Autism Services of SWLA Autism Services of Southwest Louisiana is a nonprofit organization founded by family members touched by autism.

We provide housing and support for adults and operate four houses in which men and women live and thrive in our local community. Adults with autism need a safe, comfortable environment in which to live, with twenty four hour care. Since there were no homes specifically designed for persons with autism in Louisiana, family members organized ASSL to provide such services. ASSL was founded in 2003 and after a few years of hard work and variety of generous volunteer hours and donations, ASSL's first home opened its doors in 2009.

Our partner Medicaid Waiver provider agency, Direct Care Inc., is looking for caregivers for older adolescent and young adult males and females who are on the autism spectrum. Job duties could include after school help with homework, transport to local outings and activities, and assistance with basic life skills such as hygiene, laundry, and housekeeping. Our Story

Adults with autism need a safe, supportive environment in which to live, and caregivers who are trained to manage the unique communication, behavioral, and related needs associated with life on the spectrum. Our founders organized Autism Services of Southwest Louisiana in 2003 to provide housing and supports exclusively for men and women impacted by autism. Our first home opened in 2009. Thanks to the generous support and sacrifices of our friends, donors, and volunteers, we now operate four homes in Southwest Louisiana. In collaboration with our partner non-profit organization, Direct Care Inc., we are making a positive impact on children, adolescents, adults, and families touched by autism throughout Southwest Louisiana and beyond.
