I wasn’t prepared for how emotional those first rechecks would be. These cats come in and they just… look like themselves again. Hyperthyroidism takes so much from our cats. Radioacive iodine can give it back! ☢️

Investigate. Be curious. Dig… until you find what’s actually driving the problem and break the cycle for good!

You have the skills. You have the heart. Trust them, and keep asking WHY! 💜

Every cat caregiver should know this! This trick is especially useful for kittens with FIP, but a great skill for ALL age cat caregivers to have. Cat parents, get involved - you’re part of the team!

Stress is a known trigger in FIP. How we interact MATTERS! For these patients, it may directly impact their disease course.

This is something I feel strongly about, and it’s why I encourage every veterinary professional working with cats to be familiar with the 2022 AAFP/ISFM Cat Friendly Veterinary Interaction Guidelines.

If you haven’t read them yet, I’d strongly encourage you to! Comment “Interested” and I’ll message you the PDF 💜

Your FIP cat is hurting. Antivirals are working, but... they’re not pain relief. So how do we actually manage pain in these patients, and what do we need to consider before reaching for a medication?

Thank you so much for your questions!

Sometimes I don’t get to run every test I’d like. That’s just real practice. We have to learn to work with the clues we have. 🔎

Almost every cat carries the virus... yet few develop FIP.
Why? It’s about what happens next.
A mutation... a moment of stress... an immune system caught off guard. 🦠

Can we talk about something that doesn’t get enough attention in FIP care?
Pain. 🛑
These babies are hurting, and they deserve comfort while we fight for them.

I also shared one of my new favorite management tools that has put my last TWO DIABETIC PATIENTS (soon to be three) IN REMISSION within 6 weeks!
