Our Calcasieu Parish Human Services Department will be accepting in-person applications for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LiHEAP) on select Fridays in November and December!

No appointment is needed, and applications are open to new clients and those who have not received a Cooling benefit since April 1 or a Crisis benefit since January 1.

The Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) will distribute federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) funds to all eligible Louisiana SNAP recipients starting November 7.

The Department has also ended staff furloughs and reopened SNAP offices, effective today.

LDH is announcing that starting November 1, the state will provide emergency state-funded assistance to Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) households that include the elderly, disabled, or children, per Governor Jeff Landry’s emergency declaration.
