Happy Small Bizz Saturday!

We wanted to show Bryan and BK HANDYMAN SERVICES LLC some love! Bryan is awesome and has helped us transform this old factory into our dream gym.

Not only was he quick, and efficient but he communicated consistently and kept us apprised of progress. His attention to detail is what sets him apart. We plan on using him for all of our painting and handyman needs in the future!

He has been in business over 25 years. He started out painting interiors and exteriors, and has expanded services offered. He has experience painting kitchen cabinets and staining decks. He also offers kitchen and bath remodel services and specializes in painting, drywall, carpentry and more!

Tuff Tuursday... yes spelled wrong intentionally lol!

We have two client shout outs- It is INCREDIBLE that neither of these young ladies had ever deadlifted. I gave them some cues but they moved the weight so effortlessly with pretty great form. We progressed from high rack pull, to low rack pull to a slight block deadlift all keeping volume low, and tempo slow to start!

Walk off Wednesday featuring Sit to Stand Drill!

Perform by sitting onto the edge of a box/bucket and lean forward to have chest over quads while feeling the glutes, hamstrings and core engage. This drill can be done with a stride but can be beneficial post stride as well. The hitter will slowly stand up evenly distributing weight across full foot with the back hip loaded inside the back knee. Once the hitter gets almost all the way up the hitter coils belly button back driving the backhip down. This is where a small lat load can be effective in helping the hitter get into a tighter upper body launch position- initiating this move with the elbow is important. Progressions can include adding the step back in, and removing the box! Adding the step allows the hitter to "walk away from the hands." Thank you Wes for that one!

Let's discuss time under tension. Performing a rep slow and controlled is the way to go most of the time. If you increase the time it takes to complete the rep, the body increases time under tension.

Try one of your chest exercises with a slow negative/ eccentric and you will feel the difference.
