Talk about a Norwalk veteran! We recently heard from Nancy in Arcata, California, who needed help with her trusty Norwalk 240. Turns out, she bought it brand new way back in the 60s – straight from the Norwalk factory when it was still located in California! She says she is now in her 70s and has been juicing since she bought this new. 😮
Nancy was dealing with a leak coming from the screw under the hydraulic lever shaft. This is usually a simple fix – just a worn-out O-ring that needs replacing. For future reference, if you notice a small hydraulic leak around your hydraulic lever screw, it's likely the seal under the handle attach screw. Take a look at the pictures below to see where it's located. It’s a quick O-ring replacement. We're always happy to help our customers keep their Norwalks running strong, no matter how vintage they are!

Hey Norwalk users! Just wanted to give you a peek into what we've been up to lately...
You know what? We probably should have been doing this all along! From now on, we're giving you a peek behind the curtain here at Red Wing Organics. Get ready for regular updates straight from the workshop—everything from customer juicer repairs and new product announcements to sharing fresh ideas and insights from the daily life of the crew at Red Wing Organics!
Here's a good example: We had this Norwalk come in from Theresa in Fresno – her press was acting a bit wonky. She'd already tried replacing the belt (smart move!), but no luck. Turns out, the piston had come loose and was causing some mischief inside the hydraulics. In the picture you can see the ram unscrewed from the piston and the chips of aluminum this condition can generate. We also show a few before and afters, like the sharpened cutter and what a fatigued spring looks like compared to a new one. We got it all sorted out, gave it a full service with fresh oil and seals, and even threw in a V-belt upgrade while we were at it. It’s good to go!

Juicing On the Go: Fresh & Healthy, No Matter Where You Are

The question of how-to best juice on the go comes up quite often. Debra and I love juicing and consider it a vital part of our healthy lifestyle. We juice even while traveling in our RV. Sourcing organic produce on the road can be a bit tricky. That's why we put together a list of farmers markets across the U.S., so you can enjoy fresh juice wherever your adventures take you!

Tips for Finding the Best Farmers Markets:
• Organic Focus: Prioritize markets with certified organic vendors or those using organic practices.
• Diverse Selection: Look for a variety of fruits and vegetables, especially seasonal produce.
• Knowledgeable Vendors: Chat with the farmers to learn about their produce and get juicing tips.

Even at large farmers markets, certain items like endive or watercress might be hard to find.

Juice Away!
• We travel with our trusty Norwalk 280, extra juice cloths, and grids - everything we need to juice on the go.
• We make large batches of Gerson green juice, but always follow your Gerson practitioner's recommendations, which is usually single glass batches.
• Know your rinse water source! We use distilled water when we're unsure about water purity.

Cold-pressed juice isn't just a trend. For some, it's a critical part of healing and well-being.
That's the reality at Health Institute Tijuana (H.I.T.) – one of only TWO clinics in the world licensed by the Gerson Institute. They're not just juicing enthusiasts; they're experts in the Gerson Therapy, a nutritional approach that relies heavily on fresh, nutrient-rich juices to support the body.
H.I.T. puts their Norwalk juicers through the wringer – literally! They need to make 13 fresh juices hourly a day for each patient. Oftentimes that’s over 135 individual glasses of fresh juice daily and that takes a toll. So when they sent us a well-loved Norwalk 280 for an overhaul, we knew exactly what to do.
We had a nearly-new Norwalk 280 on hand, and it felt like fate. We gave it the full "Gold Medallion" treatment – our top-to-bottom rebuild – and donated it to H.I.T.. Why? Because we believe in their mission, and we've seen firsthand the care and compassion they provide. (I was even a patient there a few years ago!)
