Florene Bullard Odom passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 8, 2024, in Nashville, Tennessee. Born on February 3, 1939, in Lake City, Florida, she married her beloved husband Harley in July 1959, beginning her adult life as a United States Air Force wife. His military career took the couple to Frankfort, Germany, where their daughter Teresa was born, and subsequently to postings in Texas, Hawaii, and Hampton, Virginia, where their son Ed was born. After 20 years of service, Florene and Harley returned home to Suwannee County, Florida, to be closer to family and friends, ultimately settling in Beachville near Branford.
Family and faith were paramount in Florene's life, and she was selfless in her service to others. Her life was devoted to supporting the success of those around her. As a faithful member of the Beachville Advent Christian Church, Florene served as treasurer for many years and could always be counted on to provide meals or assistance to those in need. She treasured her family, church community, and high school friends, working diligently to maintain close relationships with those she loved. Despite struggling with poor health in recent years, her deep faith in God strengthened her during challenging times.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alex and Virginia Bullard; her beloved husband, Harley Edward Odom, Sr.; and her brother, Gerald Bullard. Florene is survived by her two devoted children: daughter Teresa Corbin (Alan) of McAlpin, Florida, and son Dr. Harley Edward Odom, Jr. (Christina) of Brentwood, Tennessee. She is also survived by her siblings Louise Bullard, Shirley Beasley (Tony), and Paul Bullard (Nancy), all of Lake City, Florida. She will be deeply missed by her five grandchildren: Shaina (Trent) Sullivan of Eagle River, Alaska; Matthew (Sherry) of Trenton, Florida; and Aidan, Ethan, and Griffin Odom of Brentwood, Tennessee. Florene was also a loving great-grandmother to six great-grandchildren: Zoe, Rhett, Eliza, and Hanna Corbin (Matt and Sherry) of Trenton, Florida, and Nathan and Nash Sullivan (Shaina and Trent) of Eagle River, Alaska.
