Ellen Louise Gay, (Class of ’68 Queen) 75, daughter of the late Frank and Louise Gay was born on June 26, 1950. She attended the public schools of Columbia County and was a graduate of the University of West Florida. She taught school for 38 years in Hamilton County. She loved her students, and they loved her. She professed her faith at an early in Jesus Christ and joined Southside Baptist Church. As a result of her generous spirit and pleasant personality she was loved by many. Her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her. She quietly departed this life Saturday, July 26, 2025, at HCA in Lake City, FL. She was preceded in death by her father Frank Gay, her mother Louise Gay and brother Warren Gay. Her beautiful life will be forever cherished in the lives of her sisters, Jane Gay, Lake City, FL and Joan Pope, Lake City, FL, Her beloved nephew Shane and Katrin Pope, great nephews: Luke, Ryan, Jackson, and Greyson, and great niece, Olivia Pope, all of New Port Richey, Florida; and her Class of 1968 brothers and sisters whom she loved dearly as they did her. The family would like to thank HCA for their wonderful care, support and love shown to Ellen. Funeral services will be held at Southside Baptist Church, 388 SE Baya Ave., Lake City, FL on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at 11:00am with Pastors Richard Rodriguez and Roger Pursley officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:30am, Saturday, August 2 for her classmates and 10am-11:00am for family and friends at the church. Interment will follow the serves at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery on 441 South. Lunch will be served at the church following interment and everyone is welcome. Mrs. Anita Faye Napier, a forty-two-year resident of Lake City, passed away Monday, July 14, 2025, at the age of 91. Mrs. Napier was one of fourteen children born in Hyden, Kentucky to the late Pearl and Leona Morgan Smith. To help support her family, she began working at a young age and was employed by Whitings Linen Manufacturing Company for twenty years. Always active and busy, her work ethic carried over into tending to her home, preparing excellent homecooked meals, caring for her children and eventually her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mrs. Napier loved listening to gospel music, reading her bible and attending church at Fellowship Baptist Church where she was a member. She will be remembered as a “one-of-a-kind” woman and will be deeply missed by those whose lives she touched. She is survived by her children: Charlie Napier, Ernie Napier, and Elaine (Jim) Phelps, all of Lake City; grandchildren: James (Theresa) Phelps, Justin (Lisa) Phelps, Chuck Napier, Jason Napier, Angela Napier, and Steven (Tiffany) Napier; great grandchildren: Gracie Phelps, Jameson Phelps, Lanie Phelps, Sienna Phelps, Landon Blair, Ian Napier, Kirsten Napier, Zach Napier, Mason Napier, Kaylee Hannah Napier, and Scarlett Napier; brother: Ernest (Ann) Smith of London, KY; and sisters: Shirley Simpson of Hazard, KY and Idella (Glen) Hubbard of Williamsburg, KY. Ms. Marjorie Elizabeth Lott, age 89 of Lake City, passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2025. She was born in San Antonio, Texas to the late Noah and Marjorie Heath and lived in the Lake City area for most of her life. A registered nurse, Ms. Lott was proud to care for the veterans at the VA Medical Center for many years. She enjoyed attending Christian Fellowship Church in Lake City where she was a member and enjoyed gardening and painting. She is survived by her son: David Cozatt of Bay City, Michigan; daughter: Margaret (Nelson) Vanderpool of Lake City; brother: David Heath of Live Oak; ten grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 2:00pm, Sunday, July 13, 2025, in the chapel of Guerry Funeral Home, Lake City, Florida with Reverend Mark Cady officiating. Mr. Jerry Gulmer Johnson, age 77, of Lake City, Florida passed away on Friday, Dec. 20, 2024, in the Suwannee Valley Care Center, Lake City, Florida.

Mr. Johnson was born in Rutherfordton, North Carolina and had resided in Lake City for the past 30 years. A US Navy Vietnam Veteran, Mr. Johnson served for 30 years and retired as a Chief Petty Officer. After his naval retirement, he received a Master of Science in Nursing and worked in many facets of this field until his retirement in 2011. A lifelong learner, Mr. Johnson also received a theology degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gulmer S. Johnson and Gladys Laughter Baker and a beloved brother, Phillip “Phil” Johnson. He is survived by his wife, Annette Rowe Johnson of Lake City, Florida: his daughter, Barberella (John) DeBello of New York; his son Jerry G. (Barbara) Johnson, Jr. of Cocoa, Florida; two stepdaughters, Diane (Todd) Dinkins of Mulberry, Florida and Zorena Rowe (Alex) Krolikowski of Lake City, Florida; sister-in-law, Barbara Johnson of Jacksonville; four grandchildren and numerous step-grandchildren.

A graveside service with full military honors will be held at 11 A.M. Saturday, Dec. 28, in the Salem Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Columbia County, Florida with Rev. Ms. Cheryl Ann Wilkin, age 66, of Jacksonville and formerly of Lake City, passed away on Friday, December 13, 2024.

Cheryl enjoyed hugs, kisses, a good meal, and Icee’s to drink. She loved magazines and her baby dolls. Although she was disabled her entire life and mostly non-verbal, she loved the holidays and at Christmastime she always offered a “Ho-Ho-Ho”. She is survived by her sister: Sandra Wilkin Reed of Lake City; nephew: Josh Reed; niece: Katrina Reed; and three great nephews: Ayden, Avrey, and Weston Reed, all of Lake City. Cheryl was preceded in death by her father: Robert B. Wilkin and her mother and stepfather: Ruth and Earl E. Brown.

Funeral services to honor her life will be held 10:00am, Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at Salem Primitive Baptist Church, Lake City, Florida with Pastor Roger Pinkston officiating. Florene Bullard Odom passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 8, 2024, in Nashville, Tennessee. Born on February 3, 1939, in Lake City, Florida, she married her beloved husband Harley in July 1959, beginning her adult life as a United States Air Force wife. His military career took the couple to Frankfort, Germany, where their daughter Teresa was born, and subsequently to postings in Texas, Hawaii, and Hampton, Virginia, where their son Ed was born. After 20 years of service, Florene and Harley returned home to Suwannee County, Florida, to be closer to family and friends, ultimately settling in Beachville near Branford.

Family and faith were paramount in Florene's life, and she was selfless in her service to others. Her life was devoted to supporting the success of those around her. As a faithful member of the Beachville Advent Christian Church, Florene served as treasurer for many years and could always be counted on to provide meals or assistance to those in need. She treasured her family, church community, and high school friends, working diligently to maintain close relationships with those she loved. Despite struggling with poor health in recent years, her deep faith in God strengthened her during challenging times.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alex and Virginia Bullard; her beloved husband, Harley Edward Odom, Sr.; and her brother, Gerald Bullard. Florene is survived by her two devoted children: daughter Teresa Corbin (Alan) of McAlpin, Florida, and son Dr. Harley Edward Odom, Jr. (Christina) of Brentwood, Tennessee. She is also survived by her siblings Louise Bullard, Shirley Beasley (Tony), and Paul Bullard (Nancy), all of Lake City, Florida. She will be deeply missed by her five grandchildren: Shaina (Trent) Sullivan of Eagle River, Alaska; Matthew (Sherry) of Trenton, Florida; and Aidan, Ethan, and Griffin Odom of Brentwood, Tennessee. Florene was also a loving great-grandmother to six great-grandchildren: Zoe, Rhett, Eliza, and Hanna Corbin (Matt and Sherry) of Trenton, Florida, and Nathan and Nash Sullivan (Shaina and Trent) of Eagle River, Alaska.

A memorial service will be conducted on December 21, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Guerry Funeral Home in Lake City, Florida, with Reverend Keith Norris and Reverend Ronnie Wong officiating. A viewing will be held from 12:30 to 1:00 p.m., followed by a closed-casket service. A brief burial service will take place at Memorial Cemetery following the ceremony.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of William James "Jim" Roberts, Jr., age 84, on Nov. 27, 2024 in the HCA Lake City Hospital, Lake City, Florida.

He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family. Jim was born in Elberton, Georgia and attended Mercer University and Mercer Law School, graduating in 1965. He then joined the FBI, where he served for almost four years. In 1969, he moved to Lake City and practiced law there for more than 40 years.

Jim is preceded in death by his wife, Clara, and his parents, Billy and Imanelle. He is survived by his son, Billy (Terese), his daughter, Kelly and his grandson, William James Roberts, IV (Liam); two sisters, Priscilla Schimmer and Elaine Stowers: one brother, Buddy Roberts.

A funeral service to honor Jim's life will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 4, at 1 P.M. in the First Presbyterian Church, Lake City, Florida with Rev. Ken Goodrich, Pastor, officiating. Edward F. Gray Jr, 65, of Lake City, FL passed away suddenly on Thursday morning, November 28, 2024 after battling stage 4 terminal cancer.

He was born in Manchester, NH on January 20th, 1959 to the late Edward F. Gray Sr and Elsie Gray. Ed was a man of many traits, he has been a carpenter for a good portion of his life before gathering his GED and pursuing a new career path in HVAC. In his spare time he enjoyed catering to his garden, taking a spin on his motorcycle and golfing. He also, enjoyed fellowship if with church members, talking about the lord and playing his guitar.

He is survived by his loving wife of over 30+ years Mirna Gray of Lake City; daughter Eleni Gray of Daytona Beach, son, Emanuel Gray of Lake City, daughter Elizebeth Gray of Lake City, daughter Estephanie Gray of Lake City, and son, Edward Gray III of Lake City. His grandkids Ethan, Charlee and Jaouad. As well as his sister Josephine Schaum; nephew, Richard Cady, niece, Kathrena Byrne and nephew Paul Collins. Sister Merel Curry, niece Nicole Curry. Sister Gail Jones; Ellie and Emma and sister Sandra Carstensen; nephew Matthew McDonald and Zach Carstensen.

Mr. Don William Hart, age 82, of Lake City, Florida passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 26, in the HCA North Florida Hospital, Gainesville, Florida.

Mr. Hart was born in Sparks, Florida and resided in Lake City since 1963. He worked as a mechanic with Occidental Chemical Company, White Springs, Florida for over 25 years before ill health forced his retirement. He enjoyed farming, going to auctions, fishing and hunting.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Emma E. Hart, his great-granddaughter, Cheyenne Morgan and his parents, Ivy L. and Agnus Sotherland Hart. He is survived by three daughters, Tina Marie Hart of White Springs, Florida, Sherre Phillips of Lake City, Florida and Treasa Beaver of Fort White, Florida; one son, Russell (Pamela) Hart of Lake City, Florida; one brother, Wayne Hart of Jasper, Florida; three grandchildren, Floyd (DeAnna) Morgan, III, Jessica (Archie) Brown and Jennifer (Devon) Morgan; several great-grandchildren also survive.

Mr. Frank Kenneth "Kenny” Moore, age 81, passed away on Sunday, November 24th, in the Suwannee Valley Care Center, Lake City, Florida.

Mr. Moore was born in Madison, Florida and resided in Lake City over 70 years. He was of the Baptist faith and owned Kenny Moore Electric Service in Lake City, Florida for over 50 years. He was a Navy veteran, a member of the Wellborn Masonic Lodge and enjoyed wood carving and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Ann Moore and his parents, Marion M. and Irene Cruce Moore. He is survived by his daughters, Meschel Moore Westerfield and Penny Ann Jarrad (Andrew); two sons, Eugene Moore and Randal D. (Paula) Thomas; one brother, Marion Moore; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Wendell Davis. He is survived by his mother, Kathleen A.
