Your birth story matters — even if others don’t understand why it still hurts.
You can be grateful your baby is healthy and still feel shaken by what you went through.
You can appear “okay” on the outside and still carry deep emotional pain inside.
You can love your child deeply and still grieve the way you were treated — or the way things unfolded.
Birth trauma isn’t always about what happened medically.
It’s also about how safe you felt.
Whether you were listened to.
Whether you felt seen, supported, and cared for in such a vulnerable moment.
And if you didn’t — that experience can linger in your body, your thoughts, your nervous system.
For some, birth trauma might look like:
🔹 Flashbacks or intrusive memories
🔹 Feeling numb, detached, or ashamed
🔹 Avoiding future pregnancies
🔹 Struggling to talk about what happened
🔹 Feeling like a failure — even when you did everything you could
You can love your baby and still grieve a birth that felt terrifying, lonely, or out of control.
This week, during Birth Trauma Awareness Week, we’re holding space for every parent carrying unspoken pain from birth.
You are not weak. You are not broken.
Your experience deserves to be honored — and you don’t have to carry it alone.
