The Woman's Club was honored to be part of the Founder's Day-Bicentennial Celebration on Saturday in downtown Lake City. We represented the decade of 1900 since the local Woman's Club was federated in 1906.
We dressed in clothing from that decade and set our booth up with important events from the early 1900's.
We played Jacks with the kids (and adults) on the ground and gave them a set of Jacks to take home to practice (and Tootsie Roll treats and popcorn) as well as a wooden glider plane since the Wright Brothers first flight was in 1903.
We met some wonderful folks who also purchased our community cookbook (150 Years of Grits, Greens and Everything in Between).
It was a great day of fellowship and unity in Columbia County. We look forward to seeing some of you at our monthly meetings on the first Friday of each month (October-May) at the historic Club House on Hernando Avenue.
Thanks to our members who helped with the event - Stephanie Bennett, Gina Busscher, Carol Feagle, Marilyn Hamm, Susan Kroh, Lisa Okuna, Kay Poltorak, Jan Smithey, Pat Roberts and Dulci Strube. A special thanks to the fellows who helped/contributed -- Gerry Poltorak, Chris Poltorak, Randy Register and Rhett Smithey.
We also want to thank Christopher Mark Esing, who inspired us to make this a day to remember!
