Did you hear about the famous “tricker treater” who showed up at a church?

He didn’t take anything…
He left something powerful instead. 👇

On October 31, 1517, Martin Luther posted his Ninety-Five Theses on the door of the Castle Church in Wittenberg, Germany.

His thesis was a beautiful reminder that salvation is received by grace alone, through faith alone, in Jesus alone (who died for sins, and was resurrected)!

And if resurrection is possible, ANYTHING is possible. 🙌 God is powerful, He is in the business of radical transformation!

Speaking of radical change… I did some butterfly math:

🐛 In human years, a caterpillar is about 30 when it enters its cocoon.

It stays there between 10–20 years!

🦋 Once it emerges, it lives as a butterfly for another 30 years.

🖤 Inside the cocoon of darkness, it may feel like a tomb…

But what if it’s really a sacred womb for divine metamorphosis and transformation?

Happy Reformation Day! 💗🙏

Something you might be surprised that I don't do when I'm at church, an encouraging, calming read of one of my favorite Bible passages...I Peter 1:3-9 and a few interesting facts from. Research about drawing and doodling!

It might surprise you to know that I rarely "look at" my pastor while he is preaching. I find it easier to focus when I am taking notes (especially artistic ones) like the ones I took today in church from I Peter 1:3-9 (one of my all time favorite passages!) I also recommend that my clients with hig...

I've seen the mouning, I've heard the outcries
I've born witness to the anger from all sides

And while our particular wounds may originate from different places
The fact remains we've all been touched in tender heart spaces

Whether it's from recent and current events
Or hurts from a deep, hidden, past offense

Some silent, some quiet, some loud
Each one expressing an entrenched mourn
The entire world has been left groaning and forlorn

In the wake of the whizzing absurd
He joined us: The One, The Son, The Word

Made flesh to dwell among his design, Entering into the trenches of sinful mankind

Not to condemn, but to save
All of us from our fits of rage

Lord, bind up and redeem your collective cursed creation
Rescue us from ourselves, so love and peace Can be our daily proclamation.

Amen.

If peacemaking is part of our identity as children of God, where might He be inviting you today to step in, speak peace, or sow harmony, so that others might catch a glimpse of Him through you?

Blessed (makarios), "supremely blest; by extension, fortunate, well-off—blessed, happy."

Are the..
Peacemakers (eirēnopoios), "the peaceable, those who love peace."

The word peacemaker comes from two root ideas:

1. To carry out - produce, construct, form, fashion, author, lead out in, or execute

2. Peace - quietness, rest, and safety, harmony between individuals.

💗 Peace also carries the deeper connotation of: “The tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and content with its earthly lot, of whatsoever sort that is.”
(Blue Letter Bible)

📖 These "authors of peace" shall be called (kaleō), named or identified as:

Sons (huios) of God (theos) - “the only and true God, the supreme Divinity!“

The word "son" is also used to describe:

"One who depends on or follows another."

"Those whom God esteems as His sons—whom He loves, protects, and blesses above others." (Blue Letter Bible)

____________

✝︎ Guess who else was called the Son of God?
Jesus!

The term Son of God is:
“Used preeminently of Jesus Christ, as enjoying the supreme love of God, united to Him in affectionate intimacy, privy to His saving counsels, obedient to the Father’s will in all His acts.”
(Blue Letter Bible)

✝︎“Peacemakers likewise replicate the work of the Prince of Peace.”
(SonicLight Commentary, Dr. Tom Constable)

✝︎“Jesus, through His life and ministry, made peace between God and man, and between man and man. Isaiah predicted this of Messiah (Isa. 52:7). True disciples of Jesus make peace as they herald the gospel that brings people into a peaceful relationship with God and with one another.”
(SonicLight Commentary)

✝︎“Those who follow Christ faithfully will demonstrate concern for the peace of humanity by leading people to Him and by fostering peace.”
(SonicLight Commentary)

____________

🤝 True peacemakers, as described in Scripture, are those who actively work to establish harmony, both between people and with God.

In doing so, they reflect the nature and mission of Jesus Christ, the ultimate Son of God and Prince of Peace. These peacemakers are not only blessed but are recognized as God’s very own children, bearing His name and His character.

May you carry this mantle of peace with you today, empowered by the Spirit of the Prince of Peace in you!

And on the third day he rose from the dead, conquering death and providing us a way to know for sure we are forgiven, truly saved from death, and given the gift of eternal life when we trust Jesus death was enough to cover all our sin.

Sometimes we can shame ourselves for forgetting deeply important truths about who God is and what he has done for us. When you are reminded, let it be like the women at the tomb, an opportunity for renewed awe and celebration!

Jesus said, “...Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

Good Friday didn't "feel good" in fact it felt like death, defeat, fear, horror, devastation. Even though Jesus had predicted he would rise on the third day, the disciples did not yet grasp what he meant at the time, so Saturday would have come as waking up to a nightmare that was seemingly never ending.

They had no idea what Sunday would bring. All they saw was another day of grief, sorrow, tears, with a deep gut wrenching ache that something horribly wrong had happened. Who knows, maybe some of his disciples, friends, followers and family had nightmares, restless sleep, or perhaps no sleep at all Friday and Saturday night.

Perhaps you can relate to this experience. A sudden loss, a traumatic incident, death, or yet another unchosen string of bitter moments.

As we sit in the heavy quiet of Saturday
As we walk through the valley of the shadow of death
As we enter other's pain and suffering, or allow others to enter into ours
As we weep
So did he

"By oppression and judgment he was taken away.
Yet who of his generation protested?
For he was cut off from the land of the living;
for the transgression of my people he was punished.
He was assigned a grave with the wicked,
and with the rich in his death,
though he had done no violence,
nor was any deceit in his mouth."
Isa 53

May we learn to hold tenderly the sorrow of Saturday, being fully aware of it's sensations and implications for the Lord's followers, for ourselves and for our fellow humans.
