Hello, this island boy was found abandoned in St. Croix while we were vacationing. We tried looking for owners but were told abandoning animals was typical there. The vet wouldnt take him and the Agriculture vet said if we took back home to CA he would deworm him, give him rabies, and a health certificate to fly him back. We couldnt just leave him or take him back to beach where we found him as he would die. The other side of the beach was rainforest and a restaurant on the beach said they had seen him for a few weeks hanging around. He was not micro chipped and he looked very skinny. Once we got home we took him to groomers, chipped him and had him neutered. He warmed up quickly to our cat, who had to let him know he was boss, but now they play like true brothers. Buckwheat is very submissive, however doesnt care for dogs bigger than him and will bark. He will also bark at anyone near
your home. We dont know his past, so it might be for protection. I had my SD with me when we found him and they at first got a long. As we all got back home Buckwheats energy at times can be a little much for my SD which is why we are looking for Buckwheats forever home. He is a very good boy, learns from both our cat and dog, loves his people, and playing with All his toys. He will follow you everywhere and loves to cuddle right next to you. He would do well in a family that is not gone from home much and with a sibling small dog or cat. He also does well with kids. Because of his issue of barking at people in his yard, we cannot adopt to renters. We are working on this with him. He is full of love and it breaks our heart to adopt him out. He has become Very attached and will need much love and patience. If your looking for a best friend and/or addition for your family come meet Buck,
but have an open mind after all he has been through. He truly is a lover and good dog! For any questions please contact Robyn at 909-964-0077. Serious adopter only.
