Strengthen your core and hips with the cable chop!πŸ‘‹

3 variations of how to perform the exercise:

βœ… Standard chop
βœ… Downward chop
βœ… Upward chop

All 3 variations target the trunk/core and hip muscles. The standard chop offers the most balanced approach and even trunk activation. The downward chop places more bias on the abdominals while the upward chop activates the lumbar extensors and glute muscles to a greater degree.

Be careful when performing the chop variations to maintain a neutral curve- the spinal movement primarily involves rotation and not spinal flexion or extension.

When starting any new exercise start with a lighter weight and master the form before significantly increasing the resistance.πŸ‹οΈβ€β™‚οΈ

Here’s a few trunk exercises incorporating a Physio ball. The Physio ball adds a stability component - be mindful and use proper progression mastering the exercises from the ground first to avoid injury. Once mastered and ready for a greater challenge give these a try😎

1) Physio ball plank

5) Physio ball abdominal rollouts

Maintain a neutral spine with exercise. You shouldn’t fell pain in your lower back- if you do

Suffering from hip pain or just notice a generalized weakness in your hips?😱

It has been theorized some hip pain and premature wearing of the hip surfaces can be caused by micro instabilities in the hip. 🀯

The following hip exercises can help increase hip stability and overall balance and stability.πŸ˜ƒ

1) half kneel with back leg resting on bench while front foot lifts for a 3-5 sec count.

2) half kneel with back leg resting on bench while front foot lifts and then abducts.

3) Half kneel on a foam pad then lift front foot for a 3-5 sec count. This positioning is more challenging as it challenges hip flexion end range more.

Perform 1-3 sets 4 to 10 reps for 3-5 sec holds πŸ‹οΈβ€β™‚οΈπŸ˜Ž

Patient had a serious motorcycle accident November of last year and sustained multiple injuries including: Arm amputation and fractured kneecap.

Patient had difficulty walking more than 400 ft due to decreased endurance and difficulty balancing.

Squatting was difficult due to limited knee bend and muscle weakness.

2 months into rehab he has full motion in his knee and moving with much greater ease and confidence.
