Our Grants Initiative Committee hosted the Women’s Board Shark Tank event in May. Teams from across Northwestern Medicine Lake Forest Hospital presented their projects, and the committee awarded over $90,000 for seven projects total.

Grant recipients included projects focused on comfort care, dementia education and expanding thermal imaging for pressure injuries. They align with our mission to enhance compassionate patient care, to support patients and families, and to foster professional excellence. 💜

What is palliative medicine and supportive care? Martha Twaddle, MD, the Waud Family Medical Director of Palliative Medicine and Supportive Care at Northwestern Medicine Lake Forest Hospital, opened our eyes, educated our minds and touched our hearts at our monthly meeting. 💜

Imagine a pair of hands: Everything works better when they work together. Often confused with hospice care, palliative care is ongoing comprehensive supportive care for people with a serious illness. The services are tailored to their needs and delivered by an interdisciplinary team to achieve the best possible care. Palliative care also supports families and caregivers, in addition to patients.

Who doesn’t love fresh herbs? They’re the perfect addition to any meal! On April 15, we gathered for the Create and Take Spring Herb Garden Event, a hands-on class at Elawa Farm, to learn how to grow a thriving container garden. We maximized space and soil, all while enjoying coffee and scones. It was the perfect combo and kick off to Bloom, taking place on May 3!

The hotel is directly off of Route 60. Turn right onto Field Court and into Conway Park. Follow Field Court and signs toward The Forester Hotel.

If you choose to forgo valet parking and the main parking lot is full, you can use the parking lots of the office building at 100 and 150 North Field Drive.
