🟢 What Is Basivertebral Nerve Ablation? 🟢

If you or someone you know has struggled with chronic low back pain, there’s a cutting-edge treatment option that’s helping many people find long-lasting relief.

Basivertebral Nerve Ablation (BVNA) is a minimally invasive, non-surgical treatment that targets pain at its source in the spine. It works by using radiofrequency energy to heat and disable the basivertebral nerve, which is responsible for transmitting pain signals from the vertebrae to the brain. By disrupting these pain signals, many patients experience significant and sustained relief from vertebrogenic back pain—especially when other treatments haven’t worked.

This procedure is typically performed on an outpatient basis, often takes less than 90 minutes, and patients go home the same day. It’s a great option for people with chronic low back pain linked to specific changes seen on MRI (called Modic changes), and it can help reduce pain and improve function without open surgery.

🌟 Fun Fact: Dr. Cyril Philip was the first physician in Southeast Wisconsin to perform basivertebral nerve ablation—bringing this advanced pain-relief option to our community! 🙌
