KT Taping for Neck Pain | Freedom Chiropractic & Wellness – Lake Geneva, Wisconsin

Neck pain is one of the most common complaints we see at Freedom Chiropractic & Wellness in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. Long hours at a computer, poor posture, sleeping positions, and stress can all contribute to tight muscles and restricted movement in the neck and upper shoulders. One simple and effective therapy we often use in our office is Kinesiology Therapeutic (KT) taping.

What is KT Taping?

KT Tape is a flexible, elastic therapeutic tape applied directly to the skin to support muscles, reduce strain, and promote healing without restricting movement. Unlike rigid athletic tape, KT tape moves with your body and can be worn for several days.

How KT Taping Helps Neck Pain

When applied correctly along the neck and upper trapezius muscles, KT tape gently lifts the skin and soft tissue. This helps improve circulation, reduce pressure on pain-sensitive structures, and support proper muscle function.

At Freedom Chiropractic & Wellness, Dr. Dan often uses KT taping alongside chiropractic adjustments to help patients experiencing:

Neck stiffness

Muscle tension in the upper back and shoulders

Tech neck from phone or computer use

Headaches related to neck tension

Postural strain

Benefits of KT Taping for the Neck

Patients in the Lake Geneva area often notice several benefits from KT taping:

✔ Pain Relief – Helps reduce pressure and irritation in tight neck muscles.
✔ Improved Circulation – Promotes blood and lymphatic flow to help the body heal.
✔ Postural Support – Encourages better posture throughout the day.
✔ Muscle Support Without Restriction – Allows full range of motion while supporting strained muscles.
✔ Extended Relief Between Visits – Tape can stay on for 3–5 days, continuing therapy at home.

Part of a Comprehensive Chiropractic Approach

At Freedom Chiropractic & Wellness, we combine hands-on chiropractic adjustments, soft tissue work, instrument-assisted adjusting, and KT taping to help patients get the best results possible. Our goal is not just to relieve pain, but to restore proper movement and function to the spine and surrounding muscles.

If you're dealing with neck pain, headaches, or upper back tension, chiropractic care combined with KT taping may help you recover faster and move better.

Shoulder pain? Feeling instability, weakness, or that “loose” sensation when you lift, throw, or work overhead?

I’m Dr. Dan Vanderweit, your local sports chiropractor at Freedom Chiropractic and Wellness in Lake Geneva, and this is one of the KT taping techniques I use to help support shoulder stability and reduce pain.

Whether you’re a throwing athlete, weightlifter, CrossFitter, swimmer, golfer, or someone dealing with rotator cuff irritation or general shoulder instability, kinesiology taping can:

✔️ Improve shoulder stability
✔️ Reduce strain on the rotator cuff
✔️ Enhance proprioception (your body’s awareness of joint position)
✔️ Decrease pain during movement
✔️ Support healing between treatments

KT taping isn’t a “quick fix,” but when combined with proper chiropractic care, soft tissue work, and corrective exercises, it can make a big difference in how your shoulder feels and performs.

If you’re in Lake Geneva and struggling with shoulder pain, instability, or sports-related injuries, let’s see if we can help you get back to doing what you love — stronger and more stable.

Dr. Dan here — sports chiropractor in Lake Geneva 💪

KT taping for wrist pain and/or carpal tunnel syndrome is one of my favorite simple tools to help reduce tension and support healing. There are several different ways to apply tape depending on the condition and activity level.

This is one technique I use in the office that’s helped a lot of my patients — whether they’re athletes gripping a barbell or racket, or working long hours at a desk typing.

Proper application matters. The goal isn’t to “lock” the wrist down — it’s to support the tissue, improve circulation, and decrease irritation so you can keep moving and performing.

If wrist pain is slowing you down, let’s get you back in the game. 🏀

Gentle, Precise, and Effective Care for All Ages

Chiropractic adjustments can be suited to everyone's needs and comfort level. In my office, although I utilize hands-on adjustments to the spine and extremities, I also utilize a gentle, low-force instrument called the ArthroStim, which allows me to deliver precise adjustments without twisting, cracking, or more forceful movements. This makes care accessible and comfortable for patients of all ages, conditions, and comfort level

As a sports chiropractor, I use this technique for much more than just the spine. It’s incredibly versatile and helps with:

• Infants and children who need gentle care
• Elderly patients or those with fragile joints
• Patients with severe arthritis or osteoporosis
• Pregnant patients needing safe, low-force treatment
• Trigger point therapy and muscle tension relief
• Extremity adjustments (shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees, ankles, and feet)
• Sports injuries and overuse conditions
• Post-surgical or highly sensitive areas
• Patients nervous about manual adjustments
• Acute pain and inflammatory conditions

The goal is always the same — reduce pain, restore motion, improve function, and help your body heal naturally.

If you’ve been hesitant to try chiropractic care because you’re worried about the adjustment, know that modern techniques allow treatment to be tailored to your comfort level.

Your health shouldn’t be limited by fear — there’s always a gentle option available.

Foam rolling can be a powerful, simple way to reduce muscle tension, improve mobility, and support chiropractic care. By rolling the lower back, glutes, hips, quads, hip flexors, and IT band, you help break up adhesions in the fascia, improve blood flow, and decrease inflammation in the muscles that commonly contribute to lower back pain, SI joint dysfunction, hip tightness, and even sciatica symptoms.

When these muscles are tight or imbalanced, they pull on the pelvis and spine, which can increase joint stress and nerve irritation. Foam rolling helps restore better movement patterns, reduces pressure on the joints, and allows chiropractic adjustments to hold longer and work more effectively. This is why we often recommend foam rolling as part of a complete chiropractic and wellness plan.

If you’re dealing with lower back pain, hip stiffness, SI joint discomfort, or sciatica, combining foam rolling with chiropractic care, posture correction, and mobility exercises can help you heal faster and stay pain-free longer.
