Personal growth is powerful. Healing is necessary and choosing to become a better version of yourself is always worth celebrating.
But here’s the truth:
If you're making changes, even positive ones, you owe it to yourself and others to acknowledge the shift. Especially to the people who your earlier self-impacted.
Whether you meant to or not, some are still relating to the version of you that didn’t know how to show up well.
If you’re now choosing to lead with compassion, accountability, and emotional honesty, say so. Tell the people who matter. Let them witness your growth so they’re not left guessing or guarding against a version of you that no longer exists.
The people who are worth keeping close deserve to know you’ve changed, because they’re often still loving or protecting themselves from your past self.
And then… there’s the other truth:
Some people won’t, or shouldn’t, come with you.
Not everyone gets access to your healing. Some relationships were rooted in your dysfunction, and now that you’re aligned and your behaviors have changed, they won’t fit. That’s okay.
Growth means both:
Making space for repair where it’s right
&
Making peace with release where it’s necessary
Let people know who you are now.
Rebuild with those who deserve it.
And bless those you must leave behind.
