💙 Join me TONIGHT for an important conversation about mental health & addiction....

The statistics are staggering. MILLIONS of families are silently struggling with addiction's impact. As someone who's dedicated to the Family Recovery Movement, I believe it's time we replace shame with support and fear with facts.

Tonight's presentation covers:
✨ Understanding addiction as a public health crisis
✨ Transforming overwhelm into meaningful action through evidence-based approaches
✨ Mindfulness practices for finding calm in chaos
✨ Family support resources most people don't know exist

This isn't just for families directly impacted by addiction—it's for anyone who wants to build a stronger, healthier community.

After years of the failed "war on drugs" and "tough love" approaches, the opioid crisis rages on - it's clear that awareness, compassion, and collaboration are our most powerful tools.

The uncomfortable truth? Stigma has kept families isolated for too long—which is exactly why these problems just keep getting worse.

It takes great courage to have these conversations, and it's through these discussions that real healing begins.

Ready to be part of part of the SOLUTION?

Breaking the Chains of Addiction: A Community Call to Action.

Join us on Thursday May 8th at 6:30pm at the Southington Public Library for a powerful conversation on Family Recovery and addiction awareness that promises to shake the foundations of how addiction is seen and dealt with in our community.

Addiction doesn't discriminate. It tears families apart. It ravages communities. And it thrives in the shadows of stigma and misunderstanding. This isn't a problem about "those people" – it's our entire community’s problem, and it's time to face some hard facts head-on.

During this 60 minute presentation, I will:
👉 Unveil the true face of addiction and its far-reaching impact
👉 Shatter the myths that fuel stigma and prevent people from seeking the help they need
👉Empower you with compassionate, evidence-based approaches for supporting those who struggle with addiction
👉Share a few mindfulness techniques for finding calm in the chaos of life

There will be 30 minutes to answer questions and share experiences. Participants will leave with an abundance of resources and ready to take action.

This isn't just a presentation – it's a call to action for every member of our community to become part of the solution. Hope to see you there. Go here to register for this free event:

Magnolias teach us a profound lesson. "They bloom to remind us that life is livable, then die to remind us that it must be lived." ~The Marginalian by Maria Popova🩵 ttps://www.themarginalian.org

In our journey with a loved one's addiction, it's easy to get lost in the pain and forget to live our own lives. Let's take inspiration from these resilient flowers, who pioneered survival, and remember to embrace the moments of beauty and tenderness. It's okay to feel joy, to seek peace, and to bloom, even when surrounded by hardship.

Today, for a precious week in spring, they bloom to remind us that life is livable, then die to remind us that it must be lived."

🚨 Mental health and addiction recovery are under threat.

SAMHSA, the agency leading our nation’s response to mental health and substance use disorders, is at risk of being dismantled. A proposed restructuring of HHS could gut vital recovery services and undermine decades of progress.

SAMHSA supports prevention, treatment, and recovery programs that help millions of families every year. We can’t afford to let this lifeline disappear.

📢 Take action now. Let your voice be heard. Contact your representatives and urge them to protect SAMHSA and keep addiction recovery a national priority.

A big thank you to Cynthia Gwiazda and the Hagaman Memorial Library in East Haven for providing a vital platform for community education and dialogue! I was honored to present "Breaking the Chains of Addiction: Empowering Families and Communities" at their library.

Libraries play such a crucial role in addressing important social issues, and Cynthia's leadership in bringing this [difficult] discussion to the forefront is a testament to that.
As Cynthia noted, the presentation offers a well-rounded perspective, examining the addiction crisis, societal contributions, and community-based solutions.

We explored how to shift the focus from stigma and judgment to compassion and support, while also providing practical tools like mindfulness exercises to help individuals find calm and resilience.
Thank you, Cynthia, for your commitment to your community and for recognizing the power of knowledge and open conversation to create change. Your recommendation has already inspired many other libraries to join the movement!
