Stress isn’t just in your mind—it impacts your whole body. When you experience stress, your body releases hormones like cortisol and adrenaline, triggering the “fight or flight” response.

While helpful in short bursts, chronic stress can cause a range of physical and emotional effects:

Long-term stress can even affect memory, focus, and emotional regulation. Taking steps to manage stress through mindfulness, exercise, proper sleep, and support is essential for overall health.

Your body is trying to tell you something—listen and take care of it.

These words sound the same. They feel the same. Many think they mean the same thing. But they do not.

At Bio Psychiatry Therapeutic Services, LLC, we help clarify these conditions and provide guidance for effective treatment.

Both ADD and ADHD involve attention, focus and self-control. Some people struggle with these skills, which can affect school, work, and home life.

OCD stands for obsessive-compulsive disorder. It is a real health problem. It can make your mind feel crowded. It can consume a significant portion of your day. You are not alone. Many people get help and feel better.

OCD has two parts. One part is thoughts that feel stuck. These are called obsessions. The other component consists of the steps you take to halt the thoughts. These are called compulsions.

Signs of obsession are scary or upsetting thoughts, images, or urges. They keep coming back even when you don’t want them. Compulsions are actions you perform to achieve a sense of safety. You might count, wash, check, or repeat words.

Coping skills are things a person can do to feel better. They can be short and simple. Some take one minute. Some take more time. Coping skills can be breathing, drawing, or talking to a friend. They are like a small toolbox for feelings.

Everyone has feelings. Sometimes we feel happy. Sometimes we feel sad. Sometimes we feel angry or scared. For kids and teens, these feelings can feel like a big storm inside.

When a storm comes, we need a safe place. Coping skills are like that safe place. They are tools that help children and teens calm down when their feelings feel too strong.
