Happy 36!! Happy 36th Anniversary!
Two times chai (18)! Thirty-six years ago, we embarked on a journey as husband and wife, partners through thick and thin. We had no idea what the future held; all we knew was that we were the authors of our destiny.
It all began with our road to the wedding, where we promised each other teamwork to make the dream work. We had a beautiful ceremony, a great party, and unforgettable moments in Jamaica. Then, nine months later, we embarked on our first adventure—moving to St. Louis, Missouri.
St. Louis was a city of many firsts for us—a first pet, a first house, and our first child. Through the years, we faced ups and downs, but we made a promise to each other to balance and support one another. Coming from different backgrounds, blending our lives together wasn’t always easy, especially as we added more kids to the mix.
So we moved to Maryland and welcomed two more children, surprising ourselves. Life became busier, and at times, I struggled. Yet, you were always there to balance me and together, we raised three incredible kids who are now college graduates, employed, and happy. What more could we ask for?
Of course, enduring a marriage of this length comes with its challenges. Marriage is a journey where we must navigate turns, sometimes leaning in or steering clear. We faced hard times, like scrimping and saving every penny for a down payment on our house and missing family gatherings due to distance. But through it all, we chose to stay and work through our challenges.
We’ve lived in four states and seven addresses, and through it all, you’ve been an incredible partner and provider. I couldn’t ask for a better husband—honest, understanding, sensitive, bright, affectionate, nurturing, and dedicated to me.
As we embark on the next chapter of our lives—retirement—may we continue to grow, transform, and deepen our connection to each other and the divine. Cheers to us and the adventures that lie ahead!
