About 26% of school-going children in Kenya face malnutrition. At DJA, students receive 2 meals a day for 220 days a year, ensuring their health and focus.

We are incredibly grateful to all our supporters who responded to the call and made this year’s Christmas event a reality. Your generosity allowed us to distribute food bags to families, bringing love, joy, and hope this festive season.

A special thank you to our amazing volunteers for their dedication and hard work in making this event a success. From setting up inflatables to coordinating activities, providing health education, and linking families to essential resources like the new SHA health insurance program, your efforts created a day full of impact and joy.

Hosting an event like this—with inflatables, music, and laughter—in the Kambirwa community is a rare and special moment. As an underserved region, opportunities for children to enjoy such fun are limited, but seeing them smile, laugh, and play reminds us that they, too, deserve the very best. These moments empower them, nurturing their sense of worth and hope for a brighter future.

This event is also part of our NutriCare Program, which aims to address the growing burden of malnutrition in school-going children across Sub-Saharan Africa. Malnutrition is a significant contributor to Disability-Adjusted Life Years (DALYs) in underserved communities, and this initiative is a critical step toward improving health outcomes.

🌍 EquiHealth Global Honoring Dr. Celestine Ngovo’s Legacy in Kitui County 🌍

Right now, our dedicated EquiHealth Global Kenya volunteers—doctors, nurses, clinicians, dentists, nutritionists, lab techs, and registration officers—are on the ground in Kitui County, joining the Dr. Celestine Ngovo Medical Camp. This camp, held in honor of Dr. Ngovo’s legacy, is bringing vital healthcare services to the resilient community of Lower Yatta Sub-County. 💙

Kitui faces significant healthcare challenges, with barriers to essential services, frequent droughts, and high malnutrition rates. Studies show that improving nutrition alone could prevent over 92,000 DALYs (Disability-Adjusted Life Years) in this county—making this work more important than ever.

In the spirit of Dr. Ngovo’s vision, we’re here to provide medical check-ups, dental care, nutrition guidance, and lab tests, empowering the community to take control of their health. 💚✨

📢 Join Us at the Dr. Celestine Wangari Maingi Memorial Free Medical Camp!

We are proud to announce that EquiHealth Global will be partnering with other incredible organizations to honor the legacy of and bring a life-changing event, the Dr. Celestine Wangari Maingi Free Memorial Medical Camp, happening Nov 9th at KwaKilya, Kitui County! 🌍💙

This medical camp aims to provide free healthcare services to those in need, ensuring that everyone has access to quality care. Our Equihealth Global volunteers will be advancing our core intervention promoting early detection of non-communicable diseases in the Eastern Kenyan region.

In June 2024, we screened over 1,300 patients for non-communicable diseases across five medical camps. This initiative was supported by Cornerstone Church Statesville NC (a faith-based partner) Murang'a Mission Station, and received endorsement from local faith leaders. Our goal was to promote early detection of non-communicable diseases.

During the screenings, over 100 individuals were identified as needing prescription glasses. Thanks to a generous donor, we were able to meet this need, and the glasses were distributed to all patients three months later.
