Worried labor will be too intense, or afraid you won't be able to handle the pain? A Doula provides emotional, physical, and educational support to a woman and her birth partner; empowering them, allowing for a more positive birth experience and creating lifelong memories. Birth Doula Services Include:
Prenatal –
· Services begin with a complimentary consultation. At this visit we will get to know one another and chat about your vision for your upcoming birth and how doula services fit in with this vision.
· A prenatal visit, approximately 4 weeks prior to your due date, done in the comfort of your home. We will discuss your preferences, concerns, and how we can work together to prepare for a positive birth experience.
· Unlimited phone and email support throughout your pregnancy. Labor & Birth –
· On call for labor support two weeks prior to and two weeks after your due date.
· Continuous emotional, physical, and informational support for you and your partner throughout your labor. When your labor intensifies, I’ll be there, either at your home or in the hospital, assisting with comfort measures, breathing, positioning, massage, and other relaxation techniques. I will assist you in getting the information you need to make good decisions in your birthing process and help facilitate communication between you, your partner, and the clinical staff.
· If you desire, discrete photos can be taken to capture your labor and birth process.
· Your doula will remain with you for at least 1-2 hours after your birth to help establish bonding with your baby. If breastfeeding, guidance in helping baby latch will be offered to ensure a successful start to breastfeeding. Postpartum –
· Two postpartum visits, one at approximately 1 week and one between 4-6 weeks. We will discuss your birth and any questions or issues you may be having. At this visit, I also provide families with a written birth story and photographs of their birth, if they so choose.
· Phone and email support for the first six weeks after your birth should any questions or issues. Options are available for planned Cesarean birth as well.
