This week we’re shining a light on Goldie McBride, a steady, guiding presence and nurturing spirit. Read below to learn more about her 🤍

👩🏻‍⚕️ How long have you been a midwife?
I’ve been a midwife at Stony Brook since 2007!

⭐️ What inspired you to become a midwife?
I was inspired after receiving care from midwives myself. I wanted to support women through their journeys in life, helping them achieve breastfeeding success and care for their babies with confidence.

⛱️ What’s your favorite season on Long Island?
I do love warm Beach days, but I love the fall with cozy nights by the fire.

🦃 What’s your favorite holiday and why?
Thanksgiving, because it’s all about family togetherness.

🧘🏽‍♀️What do you enjoy doing on your days off?
Exercising, taking long walks, soaking up the sun, and relaxing in the hot tub.

📺 What are some of your favorite movies or tv shows?
I grew up loving sci-fi: Star Wars, Star Trek, Wonder Woman, and The Bionic Woman were favorites. My favorite book series is Outlander and the TV show is almost as good as the books.

💕What role do you cherish most outside of midwifery?
Being a mother, and now, a grandmother to my two grandsons.

Please join us for our in-person Meet The program on Thursday, 2/5/26, 7-8PM at HSC Lecture Hall 2 (Stony Brook Hospital). You will get an opportunity to participate in a Q & A session, and become more comfortable by touring our Triage, Labor and Delivery and Postpartum rooms. It is a great way to be informed and get to know us! At this time, the program is limited to birthing parents only, and siblings are not permitted. No registration is required.

*Enter the Main Visitor parking lot. (Stony Brook Hospital)
Park in the Visitor lot and go through the Main Entrance. Our security staff can provide you with precise directions to get to the Lecture Hall.
