Biodegradable Urns & Water Burials

Many urns that are intended for a ground burial, do not easily dissolve in water. It could take a very long time to break down.

There are a huge variety of water-safe urns like a water soluble biodegradable bag, biodegradable floating containers, sea shell urns, and more.

Many cultures, especially in Nordic countries, have embraced water in their rituals of choice for the deceased also, from laying coffins atop cliffs faced toward the water to actually using the water as a burial ground. Some set bodies adrift in “death ships,” either along a river or sent out into the ocean, giving the bodies back to the gods or places most valued by the people of the area.
