On April 28, 2023, at approximately 12:40 p.m., Lake Havasu City Police Officers responded to a vehicle collision on Highway 95 near mile marker 181 (in between Acoma Blvd. S. and Mulberry Ave.). Initial information received from callers was that the vehicles involved were a sedan and a truck pulling a flatbed trailer, there were multiple injuries, and one person was unconscious.
Upon arrival, officers confirmed one of the passengers from the sedan was deceased. The two other occupants of the sedan were transported to Havasu Regional Medical Center with serious injuries. One of which was a passenger who later succumbed to their injuries. The driver of the sedan was transferred to Sunrise Hospital, in Las Vegas (NV), and remains in critical condition. The Lake Havasu City Police Department’s Crash Team responded to the scene to investigate the collision.
The deceased have been identified as 22-year-old Lake Havasu City resident Mason Koon and 22-year-old California resident Cynthia Bedford. Their next of kin have been notified.
Preliminary information suggests the sedan struck the rear of the flatbed trailer that was in tow, both of which were traveling southbound on Highway 95. Speed appears to be a factor in this collision; however, the investigation is ongoing.
