Our newest paramedic students through the School of EMS have just completed their first live week in class, practicing hands on skills with their instructors. These skills are preparing them to start the next step with their clinical training in the field with preceptors. This week the students covered a basic review of EMT skills, advanced airway training, as well as OB/field delivery training.

Over the course of the last year and a half, River Medical has been working hard on having our employees certified in our EVE class, Escaping Violent Encounters. This class is based around protecting our employees and making sure they are prepared in their ability to protect themselves and others if dangerous situations arise, while also making sure to give the best care to our patients. Our instructors have been working hands on with crews in a classroom and field setting, preparing them for these uncommon, but very important situations that may occur.

River Medical crews had another successful day talking with Mr. Kramers class at Lee Williams High School about EMS and what the job entails. We had employees ranging from EMTs and Paramedics, to management positions willing to answer any questions that came up.
These students asked very informative questions and were willing to listen to any topic discussed.

On Thursday, our River Medical dive team paramedics participated in a training alongside MCSO.
River Medical has partnered and works alongside the MCSO divers for rescues and recoveries on the lake and north river. During the trainings, our paramedics on the team provide medical support for the divers if there is an emergency and are topside, assisting.
