These medications affect the part of your brain that controls your body temperature, sweating, and thirst. Please keep this in mind when spending time outside in the heat/sun if you are taking any of these meds and if you’re not sure, check the drug label or ask your doctor or pharmacist. Does this mean you should hide inside? No! Just make sure you are paying attention to how much time you are spending in the sun/heat and keep hydrated with water or electrolyte drinks. Fire Weather Update and Upcoming Diwali Holiday Safety **Important Information**

As many of you know, over the past week or two, we've seen an increase in fire danger for our area. Low humidity, mild temperatures, and windy conditions have accelerated numerous fires in our area due to the dry conditions we've been experiencing. As a result, the New Jersey Forest Fire Service continues with Stage 3 Restrictions for our area.

As Diwali approaches, we've seen fireworks stands popping up through town. While certain types of fireworks are legal in New Jersey, the use of them right now must be handled with EXTREME care. While we will not advocate the use of fireworks, we highly encourage everyone to remember the current conditions we are currently in.

Within the past two weeks, we've responded to Rockaway Twp and Livingston to assist with large brush fires in those areas that have burned a combined 200+ acres. These are just two examples of how fast fires are currently spreading due in not only our area, but across the state!

So while we hope everyone can enjoy the upcoming holiday, we hope everyone takes a minute to think about the current conditions before celebrating. Thank you very much and be safe!

Back to School and Pedestrian Safety

Today is the official back to school for Parsippany schools! The first day back means an increase in pedestrian traffic on the roads. Please make sure to allow for extra time today as you travel and use extra caution on the roads. Let’s make sure to keep back to school as a positive day today!

***EXTENDED ROAD CONSTRUCTION AND DETOUR***

The North Beverwyck Road Streetscape Project will begin on or after Wednesday the 26th of June, Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:30 AM and 5:00 PM. The first area on North Beverwyck Road to be affected will be Claudine Terrace to Lake Shore Drive. During the first part of Phase 1, the water main will be replaced, which will take approximately 4-5 weeks. This will cause a lane shift for northbound traffic on North Beverwyck Road (vehicles traveling from the Route 46 side into Lake Hiawatha) beginning in the area of Claudine Terrace and ending near Lake Shore Drive. A detour through the area for southbound traffic will beginning at the intersection of North Beverwyck Road and Lake Shore Drive. Traffic will make a right onto Lake Shore Drive, a left onto South Roosevelt Ave, and then end at Vail Road. Officers will be present enforcing the speed limit. A truck detour will be put into place as well for southbound commercial truck traffic, which will direct trucks to turn left onto Lake Shore Drive and then end on Vail Road. These routes were selected to minimize traffic issues at intersections and to accommodate the larger turn radiuses needed for commercial trucks. Detour signage will be posted in the area.

***Please note we will be reevaluating the routes as needed and they are subject to modification at any time. We realize the impact the increased traffic has on the residential streets and will be monitoring the area for traffic violations.***

Congratulations to our very own junior member, Hannah Ellicott, who received the Robert Deckenback Memorial Scholarship Award at the Sixth District First Aid Council’s monthly meeting on 5/28/24. Robert, or better known as Bob, was a 50 year member of the Rockaway Neck First Aid Squad and he was also very involved with the NJ First Aid Council on many levels. Bob was an inspiration to many and it is always an honor to present this award. This scholarship will help Hannah to pursue her nursing degree next year. Pictured first is Hannah receiving the award from current RNFAS member and Sixth District Treasurer, Pierre Kewcharoen. Second is Hannah with her Step-Mom and Dad, president Lucy Ellicott & Chief Martin Ellicott. Join us in congratulating Hannah for a job well done! 🎓

Say hello to the Monday night crew! No, they are not dropping a hot new mixtape 📻. Shilvi, Justin, Sajjad, and Mustafa (L to R) are enjoying the beautiful weather after doing rig check & cleaning the ambulances . Shilvi is a youth member but also an EMT! Did you know you can become an EMT as young as 16? You can also become an EMT at 60! It’s never too late to further your education and volunteer in your community. Interested in joining our squad as a junior or adult member? Pop by our building after 6pm or reach out to us on social media. All training is provided and at no cost to you! Plus, you get a pretty sick ride 😎🚑

Everyone please give a warm welcome to the newest member of the fleet! Given all the rain this year, we felt it necessary to upgrade to an ambulance that is a little more rugged and can handle any terrain. Some awesome features that the Bambulance (big ambulance) has is heated seats, a sunroof, and of course Apple Car Play. This will significantly improve patient care because now we can put on your favorite Spotify playlist during transport. We took it for a spin to check out the new Home Goods and Marshall’s on 46 and of course had to visit our friends at Lake Hiawatha Elementary School. Would you ride in our new Bambulance? 🫢🌷🃏
