💙 We Are Sonata Wednesday - Meet JoAnn!

This week, we’re honored to feature JoAnn Bongiovanni, a shining light in our Assisted Living neighborhood at Sonata Lake Mary.

Originally from Long Island, JoAnn raised two sons, Michael and Thomas, with strength, grace, and deep love. After her divorce and a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis at age 69, her sons encouraged her to move closer to them in Florida. She first settled into a condo, but eventually, they felt that assisted living would offer her more consistent support - and give them peace of mind knowing she had care nearby.

At first, JoAnn was hesitant about the idea.

“I was reluctant to move into assisted living,” she admits. “But I knew it would ease my children’s minds. Once I arrived at Sonata, I realized it was a brand new chapter.”

Now 73, JoAnn has discovered just how vibrant life at Sonata can be.

“I have more freedom than I expected, a whole new social life, and support when I need it. The care team here is top notch - especially Angie and Maria. They go above and beyond and treat me with such kindness and friendship. They truly make a difference in my day.”

To anyone considering assisted living - whether for themselves or a loved one - JoAnn shares this piece of heartfelt wisdom:
“I highly recommend it. It’s a chance to build new relationships, find peace of mind, and have a real place to call home.”

🌿 We Are Sonata Wednesdays 🌿

Meet Sarah Jackson, our Dining Room Manager at Sonata Lake Mary!

Originally from Jacksonville, Florida, Sarah spent 10 years as a hairstylist before moving to Orlando in 2020 with her partner. With over 20 years in the service industry, she brings her deep- rooted passion for hospitality into everything she does.

A true outdoorswoman, Sarah enjoys hiking, camping, kayaking, and gardening- especially growing her beloved Plumeria plants! 🌸

Her journey into senior living began in July 2020 at Oakmonte Village, where she accepted what she thought would be a temporary serving role. But that “temporary” job quickly turned into a calling. She found purpose in connecting with residents and being part of their daily lives. Through hard work and heart, she rose into leadership - where she now thrives mentoring others.

Sarah brought her hospitality and servant spirit to Sonata Lake Mary, where we are so blessed to have her on our team mentoring and growing our servers. 💜

“I enjoy being in the service of others,” Sarah shares. “And I love teaching my team that small, respectful actions can truly change someone’s day.”

For Sarah, one of the most rewarding parts of senior living is the residents themselves. “You make a big difference in their daily lives - but they can do the same for you. They’ll inspire you with their incredible stories, wisdom, and humor. It’s not just a job - it’s a career with purpose and heart, and one that offers strong job security and opportunities for growth.”

Sarah truly embodies the AgeWell Solvere mission - nurturing growth by creating environments that promote social, intellectual, physical, and spiritual development for both residents and team members.

We’re grateful every day for the light, leadership, and love Sarah brings to our community.

“We twisted and shouted! We brought back the good ol’ days with a Sock Hop right here at Sonata Lake Mary !! We Dusted off our dancing shoes, pulled our poodle skirts and leather jackets, and enjoyed a night full of music, memories, and movement!”

🌟 We Are Sonata Wednesdays 🌟

Today we’re shining the spotlight on someone who brings so much heart to our front desk — Toni Folstein, Concierge at Sonata Lake Mary.

Toni’s story is one of dedication, resilience, and deep compassion. From her early years as a competitive artistic roller skater to becoming a CNA right out of high school, she followed her passion for helping others by earning her LPN and RN credentials. She has worked across skilled nursing, assisted living, and memory care — always led by her commitment to making a difference.

After starting a family, Toni stepped away from her nursing career to raise her three incredible children — now 12, 16, and 19. Two of her children now travel across the U.S. competing in artistic roller skating, proudly following in their mother’s footsteps. Her third is an aspiring chef and a multifunctional sitter — both for children and pets!

“It’s my honor and pleasure to help and protect our residents at a very vulnerable time in their lives. They have lived such incredible lives, and I’m grateful to be part of their journey.”

Toni also offers a heartfelt piece of advice to anyone considering a career in senior living — especially in memory care:

“Please learn how to hear them. Respect them, even on the most difficult days. And just love them through the end of their journey.”

Toni, thank you for the warmth, grace, and wisdom you bring to Sonata Lake Mary every day. You are truly a gift to our residents and our team. 💙
