🌟 We Are Sonata Wednesdays 🌟
This week, we are honored to spotlight our newly promoted Sous Chef, Ryan Gurmohamed! 🎉
Born in New York to a proud West Indian family, Ryan grew up surrounded by rich flavors, vibrant traditions, and the joy of gathering around the table. From a young age, he knew that food was more than just nourishment - it was love, culture, and connection. With the guidance of his mother and grandmother, Ryan began learning the art of cooking, absorbing not just recipes but also the heart and soul that goes into preparing a meaningful meal.
Over the past two decades, Ryan has honed his skills across a variety of kitchens - mom-and-pop restaurants, chain establishments, and fine dining experiences. Each opportunity shaped his technique and fueled his creativity. But while Ryan’s culinary career was thriving, it was his relationship with his grandmother that gave his cooking its deepest purpose. She was his inspiration, his teacher, and his reminder that food has the power to bring comfort, joy, and community.
Today, Ryan honors her memory through his work here at Sonata Lake Mary. He shared: “It gives me much pride and joy to give back to those who shaped my community. Cooking in senior living was an easy choice - I want every meal I prepare to be meaningful.”
Outside of the kitchen, Ryan has another passion - cars! In his free time, you’ll often find him working under the hood, enjoying the challenge of building and restoring. Whether with food or engines, Ryan is a creator at heart, driven by dedication and care.
We are grateful to have Ryan’s talent, experience, and heart on our team. His story reminds us that meals are never “just food”- they are moments, memories, and connections. We can’t wait to see the many “Meaningful Meals” he will continue to share with our Sonata family. 🍴✨
