Had a great time visiting Sonata Lake Mary to attend their Ice Cream Social event that just recently passed. It was a pleasure to meet the staff and residents and tour their amazing facilities. It was definitely a hot afternoon so it was a perfect time to enjoy the ice cream served by . It's nice to get out of the Eye Clinic and meet with the community that I serve.

If you've visited the clinic over the last few months, you were likely greeted by George. He has been doing an amazing job caring for our patients.

He will be leaving the clinic to begin medical school. We are so excited for him as he takes this next step in his career. Patients constantly commented on his calm, professional demeanor, making them feel welcome and cared for. These are traits that will serve him well as he cares for his future patients.

We are proud of the clinic team and their continuous dedication to the patients we serve. Best of luck George in your studies. Maybe you'll also choose to be an ophthalmologist in the future 😉

Today we celebrate Memorial Day.  A time to remember those in the Armed forces that serve their country and fellow citizens.

It's also an opportunity for us to introduce you to the voice of our clinic.  When you're calling the clinic, chances are you'll be talking to Mia. She is helpful, knowledgeable, and resourceful when it comes to preparing for your upcoming appointment. But did you know she is an active member of the army reserve.

When she's not performing her clinic duties, she is most likely with her unit training and preparing to serve her country.

This year, the army wanted to recognize employers that have been supportive of their employees who are also soldiers. They are often called away from their civilian jobs to train or prepare to serve. Despite being a new clinic, we were honored that Mia nominated our practice as an employer that is supportive and accommodating.

She presented this token from her unit to the clinic. While receiving this token is an appreciated gesture, we are the ones who are thankful to dedicated soldiers like Mia who balance work, family, and the army life. Mia, it is a privilege to work with such a resourceful and strong character.

Thank You Oakmonte Villages at Lake Mary for inviting me to your Lunch and Learn. I had a great time meeting your residents and speaking about Glaucoma: The silent Thief of Sight. It was well attended and sparked a great Q & A session after. What a beautiful facility and staff you have that are taking care of the residents.

It's great being a new Ophthalmologist in the area and getting out to meet the community and discuss what is important to them about eye health.

I would love to come again Village at Lake Mary if your residents would like me to give another talk about Cataracts or Diabetes in the Eyes. Let me know.

6 months already!

Today we celebrate our 6 month anniversary since we opend the clinic in Lake Mary. Wanted to take a moment to re-introduce myself and the Clinic with a short video produced by to all my existing and new patients.

I’m Dr Aly Sheraly, a Board Certified Ophthalmologist and Glaucoma Fellowship Trained Subspecialist. I’ve been practicing in Central Florida for almost 10 years and recently opened Orlando North Eye Clinic in Lake Mary, Florida. I’m here to serve the community and address their vision concerns and eye health needs.

Opening this practice has been, to say the least, an adventure and test of resilience and endurance. I am so thankful to have a strong team of committed and resourceful members behind me to ensure that we are able to fulfil our mission statement of making “Your Vision Our Focus”. I’m thankful to all my previous patients and new patients that have trusted me to care for their eyes. I’m thankful to all my friends and past coworkers that have encouraged me throughout the process.

But of course most of all, I’m grateful to my wife and children who have sacrificed and pushed me to be a better doctor and human being. Without family, this clinic would not have come to be.

So today, marks the 6 month milestone for the clinic with many more to come.

It's a long road to become an Ophthalmologist. I display my certificates in the waiting room for patients, not to gloat, but to reassure them that I have extensive training to treat their eye concerns.

After completing medical school in Syracuse, New York, I completed my Internal Medicine Internship, Ophthalmology Residency and Glaucoma Subspeciality Fellowship in Detroit, Michigan.

More often than not, it becomes a conversation piece with my patients as many have moved from from Northern States in recent years. We are all happy to have escaped the cold and snow. So to all my patients, both those that are native Floridians or who have relocated to the Sunshine State, know that I am here to serve my new home in Central Florida.

A patient asked me what is in those cases on my exam table while I was getting ready to exam them.

These are the cases to my lenses. They are what I use to exam the different parts of the eye. Some lens can help me focus on the front part of the eye allowing me to get a more detailed view that I couldn't get just by looking through the microscope. Other lenses help me focus the light on the back part of the eye, specifically the retina. The retina is an important part of the eye that captures all the light entering the eye. A lot of different diseases like Diabetes, Macular Degeneration and infections can damage the retina. So during an exam it's an important step to carefully examine the retina with my lenses.
