June 12 — Loving Day 🤍🖤

Today marks the 58th anniversary of Loving v. Virginia, the Supreme Court case that legalized in*******al marriage in the U.S. A day named after Richard and Mildred Loving—a couple who simply wanted what all couples want: to love freely, build a life together, and raise a family in peace.

As a Catholic therapist, a Black woman married to a White man, this day isn’t just history—it’s deeply personal. It’s a reminder that love isn’t limited by race, and healing isn’t bound by culture.

In my work with couples, I often say: Love is more than chemistry—it's a commitment to grow, to listen, to bridge, and to become. That’s never more true than in marriages that have had to overcome obstacles of any kind.

To all my fellow in*******al couples—your story is sacred. And your union is a living testament that grace wins.

💛 Let’s all honor the Lovings today by continuing to choose love over fear, connection over division, and unity over shame.

Tag someone you love. Celebrate your story. Love boldly.

It’s been 4 years since I shared personally to honor … For those who don’t know, today is the 57th anniversary of in*******al marriage becoming legal across the country.

Yes, you heard that correctly... 57 years ago... that means there are people alive today who can talk about the before, during, and after of this ruling.

They can tell you how they felt about the ruling and what they believed at the time.

I cannot imagine what life would be like without being able to journey alongside my best friend, a man who accepts me and loves all of me.

Were it not for people who chose to see the dignity of the other and who were willing to have difficult conversations, this country would still look very different.

My husband and I have had many challenging conversations throughout our 14+ years and they’ve been so fruitful because of love.

Love is what motivated introspection, vulnerability, listening, accepting responsibility, and amazing heart-to-hearts.

“If I... do not have love, I am a resounding gong or a clashing cymbal.” - 1 Corinthians 13:1 ❤️

Everything ultimately comes down to love in the end, doesn’t it? 😊

A lot has changed over the past 4 years.

Continue to be willing to have those difficult conversations, no matter how uncomfortable. What you will find on the other side is something more beautiful than you can imagine...”only more love.”

“Tell the court I love my wife, and it is just unfair that I can’t live with her in Virginia.”

Thank you not only to Mildred and Richard Loving, but also to everyone who fought for them and chose to be courageous. They paved the way for so many, including us. ❤️❤️

During Lent, I usually get questions about fasting and eating disorders.

While a period of fasting can act as a time of introspection, spiritual connection, and renewal, for those in eating disorder recovery, the idea of abstaining from food may trigger feelings of anxiety or exacerbate unhealthy eating patterns.

So, how do we reconcile these seemingly conflicting concepts?

🌿 Cultivating Wellness: The Power of Self-Reflection 🌿

🌟I'm here to share a friendly reminder on the transformative practice of soul-searching.

Amidst life's hustle, taking moments for self-inquiry can be a profound act of self-care. 🌸

Incorporating prayerful introspection into your routine is like tending to the garden of your mind & soul. It allows you to nurture your thoughts, emotions, and experiences, fostering growth and resilience. By taking intentional pauses, you create space for self-awareness and personal & spiritual development.

🌈 Whether it's journaling, mindful breathing, or simply pondering life's journey, make self-examination a part of your daily or weekly routine. Embrace the opportunity to understand yourself more deeply, celebrate your victories, and wade through challenges with grace.

💖 Remember, the path to healing and growth often begins with self-awareness. So, find a quiet moment, pour into yourself, and let the beauty of self-reflection blossom in your life. 🌺✨

Our Story

Thank you for visiting. Throughout my life, my family has been great. My parents are incredible people who made many sacrifices for the benefit of our family. They choose to be dedicated to one another no matter what and they are still married to this day.

Growing from a child into a teen, I learned that my family was rare. I had friends whose parents divorced. Seeing their pain hurt my heart. I saw how much pain it caused them and everyone involved.

I had always wished that I could help them or fix their situation.

Until one day it dawned on me that I could in fact help the world by improving peoples' family dynamics through counseling. Just like that, I realized that I was being called to my profession and I have never wanted anything other than what I am doing now.
