“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”Psalm 23:4.
I started to quote this verse when a man came into my office today and began to sob uncontrollably due to a traumatic death that had just occurred in his life. We had spent an hour together problem-solving how to get through all of this. The minute I started quoting this verse, he finished it for me. Chills went all over my body as he looked me in the eyes and told me that what I just said to him made more of a difference than anything else that has been discussed throughout the session.
I’m not always the best therapist, but I do believe that God uses me in people’s lives and if we listen, he can speak his word through us to help others. That happened today and that helps me understand that I was meant for this job. I was meant to be here.
If you are struggling today due to grief or loss, please remember that you are not alone. Your life has meaning and you were meant to be here. God has a purpose for you. Even if you don’t see him through the words of the Bible, he is with you through whatever means you find fit to know him. Hold onto that and never let go..
