Prayer Twist invites us to slow down and listen. ✨

Rather than forcing the rotation, we build the pose from the ground up—rooting first, lengthening the spine, and allowing the breath to guide how the twist unfolds. It’s a reminder that stability creates freedom, and presence matters more than depth.

Explore this pose with curiosity, notice how it feels in your body today, and let your breath lead the way.

Save this for your next practice and come explore Prayer Twist with us on the mat. 🤍

Mindful Monday ✨

Our Yoga Sutra of the Month is 1.8 — viparyaya, false perception.

This sutra reminds us that not everything we believe is rooted in truth. Sometimes the mind fills in gaps with stories, assumptions, or past experiences—and we live from those without realizing it.

These journal prompts invite gentle svādhyāya (self-study):
✨ noticing where we feel certain
✨ questioning the stories we tell
✨ listening beyond our first reaction
✨ sensing how belief lives in the body

Let this be a practice of curiosity rather than correction. When we soften our grip on being “right,” we create space for clarity, compassion, and connection—on and off the mat.

Save these prompts, choose one to sit with today, and return to them throughout the week.

Prayer Twist — four ways 🌀

Same pose, different expressions. Explore what supports your body today:

1️⃣ Modified Back knee lowers, hands at heart center — steady, supported, and accessible.

2️⃣ Traditional (Ashtanga-inspired) Back foot planted and pivoted, hands at heart center — grounded with mindful rotation.

3️⃣ With a block Bottom hand to a block, top arm reaching overhead — creating space, length, and openness.

4️⃣ Open arms (no block) A free, expansive variation that invites balance and exploration.

Let the twist be about breath and awareness, not depth. Which version are you meeting today? 🤍

The turn of the new year often comes with “New Year, New You” posts — right as winter begins, right after an often chaotic holiday season.

I believe in moving with the seasons.
Winter is for rest and hibernation.
Restoration.
Cozy cuddles.
Warm foods.
Slow, intentional movement.

I took 10 days away from creating content to turn fully toward rest — and I’m honestly still leaning into it. This month, I invite you to do the same.

Instead of January being about starting something new, maybe you lean into something already here. ❄️

Lean into the breath.
Lean into the quiet.
Lean into presence.
Rather than doing, maybe just be.🧘‍♀️

Here are some ideas for moving through this month with rest and restoration — a gentle guide to slowing down and reconnecting with yourself. Happy cuddles. 🤍

✨ Yoga Sutra 1.8 — Viparyaya (False Knowledge) ✨

Sometimes we’re certain something is true… when it’s not. This sutra invites us to pause, notice our assumptions, and question our perspective. What story is your mind telling you right now? How might things look from another point of view?

Lean into curiosity rather than certainty. Explore your thoughts, your reactions, and the space between them. Awareness begins not with answers, but with gentle inquiry. 🌿

Happy New Year! 🤍🎆

Our first teacher of the month for 2026 is Whitney✨

Whitney discovered yoga during pregnancy and quickly realized it was so much more than physical movement—it became a path to presence. Her teaching is grounded in mindful breath, strength, and self-compassion, inviting students to move with awareness and curiosity. Trained in Ashtanga, Vinyasa, and Yin Yoga, and holding two 200-hour certifications in yoga and meditation, Whitney creates a supportive space where growth unfolds both on and beyond the mat.

The pose of the month is Prayer Twist.
💡 A grounding twist that invites balance, stability, and clarity through mindful rotation.

Benefits include:
• builds strength and stability in the legs and core
• supports healthy spinal rotation
• improves balance and focus
• encourages detoxification and circulation
• cultivates patience and presence through breath

📸 Tag us in your Prayer Twist moments this month!

🌿 Join Whitney Thursdays for Ashtanga at 6PM and Yin at 7:15PM to explore strength, stillness, and self-awareness.

Come check out a class at Yoga Onyx and explore your practice.

Today marks the first day of winter and the shortest day of the year ❄️

A gentle reminder to follow the season and go inward—rest, restore, get cozy.
And if you’re here in MI, enjoy the little snow globe we get to live in.

In honor of this slower season, I’ll be taking the rest of the year off from creating new content. I’ll still pop on if there are any weather-related cancellations. For now, please check MindBody or the latest schedule posted here on the feed.

Wishing you all a cozy, peaceful holiday season.
I’ll be back to posting in 2026 😚✨

Open your heart, safely and with intention. 💗

Join Ashley on January 30 from 6:00–7:30pm for a heart-opening workshop inspired by the method taught by Talia Sutra. You’ll learn how to intelligently and safely work toward deeper heart openers, building strength, trust, and awareness along the way.

As we open the heart, we practice moving from fear into love, from holding on into surrender — both on and off the mat. This is an invitation to explore what it means to trust yourself and soften into possibility.

✨ Space is limited. Save your spot and open your heart with us.
