I hope everyone is enjoying the remainder of summer, back to school time, and the start of football season 🦁 🏈. I am approaching five weeks now into my health recovery journey. It has most definitely not been a fun experience, but I will surely miss the days of being home every day with my family. I am slowly getting better each day with my strength and endurance. Although there will be some continued steps backwards here and there, I am doing my best to heal and taking it day by day.

I will be returning to my massage business in November '25 (tentatively...) and I am so much looking forward to feeling like a normal person again. Unfortunately, after 15 years as a firefighter/paramedic, I will most likely never be able to return to it again. These past surgeries have made it highly unlikely that a fire department will ever give me an honest chance again to put on the uniform and turnout gear due to liability… But you either choose to sink or swim in life, and I am going to swim and look into my other future career options to best support my family in addition to my business💙.

First off, I want to apologize if I have taken a long time to get back to you. I have been trying to keep up with my friends, family and clients as well as my body has allowed it. I have had numerous blood studies, body scans, you name it over the past few weeks trying to figure out why I have been so ill and was continuing to get worse..
The good news is, the medical team says I do not have Lymphoma cancer!!!
After the most recent blood studies, they found answers. I was hospitalized starting yesterday with a blood infection and sepsis and for the first time in a long time they had answers which means they had treatments to make me well again!
I had a few setbacks since being hospitalized this time around but I am slowly starting to heal after the massive amounts of fluids and antibiotics. The cardiac team confirmed that the source of these infections is my mitral heart valve. My mitral valve has been on my radar my entire life but I never thought lately it would try to kill me. I am being transported out to another facility soon for as my doctors said “Eric, you are very sick!” But they are determined I will be healthy again… especially after the heart surgery i am now scheduled for this week to replace my valve and clean up the bacteria which could cause heart attacks and stroke if not corrected.

Unfortunately, after heart surgery.. I will be unable to work for at least 3 months which will be an adjustment we will figure out and move forward. I am very sorry to my clients for the upcoming hiatus of Eric Does Massage.. this is extremely hard on me especially since it is my financial livelihood but we will move forward and I will be back to it healthy and strong again soon. Thank you to all of you that have sent positive thoughts and have been reaching out over the months❤️

I will be closing my books until i am medically cleared to return to work 😢
