‘Tis the season! Thanksgiving is coming up in the US and the holidays in general are just a time for gratitude and thankfulness. So, let’s spend some time each week reflecting on what we are grateful for.

Be Thankful in the Moment!

Sometimes, a good way to get back on track when you’re feeling tired, burnt out, or overwhelmed is just to take a break. I mean, sometimes the break itself is a good reason to be thankful!
At work, school, or when the kids are driving you crazy, go for a walk around your building or step outside for 5-15 minutes to breathe the fresh air and think about how thankful you are for the opportunity to take a break, to stretch your legs, to feel the sun!
I also love to take a moment to notice the little things I am thankful for, like my morning cup of coffee or tea, my daily amazing shake!!, or my pillow or bed when I lay down to go to sleep at night.

Did you know that stress can cause you to overeat?

When you’re first facing stress, it can cause your appetite to decrease so that your body can handle the situation; however, if the stress doesn’t go away, your body releases cortisol, which increases your appetite and can cause someone to overeat. This also increases your food cravings for sugary or fatty foods. Have you also noticed that the more fat and sugar you eat, the more you crave and you can quickly get into a cycle?!

One idea to break this cycle: go drink 16 oz of room temperature water and then move on to a walk for some fresh air, or a workout you love!

Happy Monday!!

The weather continues to get cooler (depending where you are!) and I’m loving this warm Turmeric Latte on cool mornings 😍 This recipe makes 2 servings, so whip one up for you and a loved one!

Ingredients
- 2 cups unsweetened vanilla almond milk- I like MALK
- ½ tsp pure vanilla extract
- 4 tsp honey
- 1 tsp ground turmeric
- ¼ tsp ground cinnamon
- Pinch of ground nutmeg
- Pinch of cardamom
- Extra ground cinnamon to sprinkle on top!

- BONUS: these spices are often anti-inflammatory and great for the immune system! However, the only true way to know for sure what foods are causing inflammation in your body (and which foods are best for "your body") is the MRT food sensitivity testing.- message me for more info!

Instructions
1. In a small pot, add almond milk, vanilla, honey, ground turmeric, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cardamom over medium-high heat.
2. Whisk together and bring ingredients to a boil; then, reduce heat to low and simmer for 3-5 minutes to reduce the mixture, stirring occasionally.
3. Pour into 2 small mugs, then sprinkle with ground cinnamon.

Happy Thursday!

“Your comfort zone is safe but nothing ever grows there.” - Salvador Dali

Most of us spend most of our time in our comfort zone and that’s ok. But when you spend 100% of your time there, never breaking away from what you’re used to, you restrict your ability to grow. We get so afraid of trying something new that we stop ourselves from creating the beautiful life we want.

I found a very cool website that is built around a comfort zone challenge; basically, you pick a task to complete every day for as long as you’d like. Maybe you want to do everything on the list. Maybe you’ll take on 30 days. But I definitely think this is an amazing idea to help you continue to grow in more areas.

Here's a super simple tasty treat … and this time of year is perfect for Pumpkin Spice!

Ingredients
- 3 tbsp pumpkin puree
- 1 tsp pumpkin pie spice
- ¾ cup plain Greek yogurt
- 1 tsp honey (or sweetener of choice)
- 2 tbsp granola

Instructions
1. Mix pumpkin puree, pumpkin pie spice, Greek yogurt, and honey together in a bowl. Top with granola and enjoy!

Makes one serving- ENJOY!!!

Happy Wednesday!

“The risks of breaking out of your comfort zone isn’t nearly as bad as the risks of staying in it your whole life.”

When you’re in your comfort zone, your brain is happy - it doesn’t want anything to change. It requires so much energy for day-to-day activity that your brain basically doesn’t want to give extra resources to the attention required to do new things. Your brain likes things to be safe and comfortable!

However, breaking away from your comfort zone from time to time creates just enough good stress to ramp up your focus, creativity, pace, and drive - and it helps you respond to life stress when unexpected things happen!

So, here are 5 simple things you can do to break out of that comfort zone:

✨ Drive a different route to work.
✨ Ask for a project at work or school that you’re not 100% sure you can do.
✨ Take an art or music class that uses a medium you’ve never touched.
✨ Unplug from all tech for an entire day- oh this is a good one!
✨ Brush your teeth while standing on one leg.
