Operation Namaste

Operation Namaste Why we do it:

An estimated 52 million people in the developing world are living with limb loss, and fewer than 10% of them have access to prosthetic care.

Our Mission
To help determined people achieve mobility through knowledge, technology, and support of prosthetic and orthotic practitioners and their patients change around the world. Imagine trying to go to the grocery store with only one leg or on a very painful and feeble prosthesis, now imagine doing it from a distant mountain village where you have to trek to gather your daily needs. Nepal and many other countries around the world need our help to provide timely, modern and quality prosthetics at a low cost. We’ve answered that call with The Namaste Liner, developed by Operation Namaste, it is a new method of fabricating silicone prosthetic liners-.an component integral but routinely corroded as it is the barrier between limb and prosthetic. The Namaste liner could mean the difference between limb wounds rendering your prosthetic useless until healed and unable to grab groceries or go to work. Operation Namaste has implemented a comprehensive solution to address the barriers of tariffs, access to silicone and industry limitations. That’s why we are focused on developing countries to lower the cost of this modern care and make them immediately available to those in need. Here’s the best part:
Through collaborative efforts, the home country receives:
3-D printed Namaste Liner molds sized according to the needs of local amputees
Raw Namaste Liner Silicone
Training on modern silicone liner methods
CONTINUED SUPPORT via our crafted software
A self-sustaining industry within the home country and autonomy will serve as the ultimate goal

Our model is already working. We use 3D printed molds and medical grade platinum cured silicone to make long lasting liners in a sustainable way while also providing the clinical knowledge and understanding to effectively fit patients with the liners to ensure success. Our software allows any doctor with a phone, ipad or computer to fit someone for their prosthetic and is already serving as an educational platform for prosthetic students in North America. This gives clinicians in developing countries access to a vital resource to help the people of their country. We have successfully implemented our fabrication system in Nepal and Ecuador and now have plans to offer it to amputee's globally. We need YOUR help to scale this program up and help more amputee's return to work. Make your donation go twice as far. One of our wonderful donors has put $25,000 to match every dollar you donate. Please help in providing prosthetic technology to everyone worldwide. https://www.operationnamaste.org/

GDI Hub just posted a blog about work we are doing together in Nepal. This represents a lot of hard work among all the organizations involved and we should all be proud.

Our new pilot study at Green Pastures Hospital, Nepal, explores advanced prosthetics for people with limb loss and leprosy. Led by GDI Hub with INF and Operation Namaste, it tests a locally made silicone locking liner to improve care in low-resource settings. Experts and patients joined for research...

After many years of effort, the research study that Imperial College ran on Namaste Limb Solutions was published in Prosthetic Orthotic International. Many thanks to everyone involved at Green Pastures Hospital and Imperial College.

endon bearing (PTB) sockets with PE-lite liners remain standard, leading to patient discomfort and skin issues. Objective: This study evaluates the benefits and durability of an affordable silicone liner locally manufactured in an RLE to promote TSB socket adoption, aiming to enhance prosthetic care...

After a long haul it was great to finally present the research we have been dedicating our time to over the last few years.

Nepocon 2024 hosted by POS Nepal is the first time we publicly shown our results.

We will post more soon with the long list of people to thank.

Hari has been an informal ambassador for Operation Namaste for the last few years. I am so glad to hear that his commitment to assisting people with limb loss will continue.

The first double above-the-knee amputee to climb Mount Everest has returned from the mountain pledging to dedicate the rest of his life to helping people with disabilities. Hari Budha Magar, a former Gurkha soldier who lives in Britain, reached the peak of the world’s highest mountain last week. M...

Our Story

A three phase approach to providing orthopedic and rehabilitation care is the best method of delivering a long lasting continuum of care for the individuals of Nepal. This health care model places a strong emphasis on firstly identifying incidence through a needs assessment. Then making sure that the affected individuals progress from injury to acute care and finally providing the necessary O&P care and rehabilitation to increase the quality of life and independence of these people. Phase One The World Health Organization has a preliminary understanding of the current needs and capability of P&O facilities in the Kathmandu and surrounding areas. We will coordinate with the WHO, and the Prosthetic and Orthotic Working Group as we begin to facilitate P&O services in Nepal. These parties have an understanding of the needs of Nepal and the capacity of local facilities to provide P&O services. Phase Two and Three We will utilize our connections within the Nepal government and medical institutions to provide the necessary post operative, fracture, contracture management and limb health to the individuals identified in the needs assessment. This will also be the beginning of an expansive educational program that will allow us to provide sustainable services in Nepal. We can call upon our work in O&P education to design a curriculum best suited to build upon the needs of local technicians and clinicians. Phase three will be a continuation of education and services to maintain our promise to provide a continuum of care for the people.
