I used to think growth meant becoming someone better.

More confident.
More polished.
More acceptable.

What I didn’t realize was how often I was betraying myself in the process.

I betrayed myself every time I said yes while my body said no. Every time I explained away my discomfort instead of listening to it. Every time I stayed quiet to keep the peace, even when something in me was asking to be honored.

For a long time, I thought that was maturity. I thought that was healing. I thought that was what it meant to evolve. But it was just self-abandonment dressed up as growth.

Learning to stop betraying who I am hasn’t been loud or dramatic. It’s been subtle. It’s been choosing rest over proving. Truth over approval.
Presence over performance.

It’s been learning that I don’t owe my energy to things that drain me. That discomfort isn’t something to override - it’s information. That I’m allowed to change my mind, set limits, and walk away without a long explanation.

I’m no longer interested in becoming someone new. I’m interested in being someone true.

And the more I stay with myself - the quieter my life gets, the steadier my nervous system becomes, and the clearer my direction feels.

This is what growth looks like for me now:
Not self-improvement, but self-honor. ✌🏻
