Did You Know?
Letโs Talk About It!
Milk production is hormone driven in the first 12 weeks after the birth of your baby/babies.
Each time you remove breast/human milk prior to regulation, you have a surge of prolactin. When you remove breast/human milk, this sends a signal to your body, letting it know to continue producing [or increase production of] breast/human milk.
When you do not express breast/human milk frequently and/or efficiently, this can send the wrong message to your body. Your body will assume you are producing too much breast/human milk for your baby so it will slow milk production.
This is why itโs important to frequently nurse or pump to establish a milk supply that fits your babyโs needs.
