Last night, All County Funeral Home & Crematory Port St. Lucie had the honor of hosting a community open house as well as a special tribute to the St. Lucie County Fire District Station 5. Our newest location on the Treasure Coast was once home to the Fire Station 5 Crew. We preserved the history of the building and incorporated it into our decor. This is sentimental as our Chief Operating Officer, Shaun Luyk, served as a firefighter for over a decade prior to devoting his career to helping families experiencing loss. We thank all of the families, community members, community leaders and our guests of honor, the SLCFD Station 5 Crew, for visiting us and taking the time to reflect on the history of this building.

Delivering a eulogy is one of the most trying parts of a funeral, and it can be difficult to conceptualize the feelings for a loved one who has passed. It is important to start by collecting memories, then emphasizing it's significance, knowing the typical eulogy length is around 2 to 5 minutes to allow other's a turn to speak.

Through the 1970s, ambulances often served double duty as hearses until legislation restricted it. A few cities experimented with trolley or subway car hearses for the transportation of bodies, but the practice never caught on. Today in the US most hearses are luxury cars like Cadillac, Lincoln, or Mercedes that are hand-crafted by companies that take the bodies of existing cars and customize them to be longer with special mechanisms.
