This is a custom turned bead with amazing opal inlay to flash and sparkle ✨️ I had a new client give me artistic license to turn her a dread bead after not being able to choose the wood etc. I just bought some new burl wood that has beautiful figure so threw a chunk on my lathe. I didn't turn a fancy style because the natural figure was too amazing to detract from! I used a couple colors of opal to fill a large void and then plucked out a couple more spots to fill so the sparkle wouldn't all be in one place. She was so happy she asked me to do it again! Haha I love my clients!!

This set has had a few lives. Haha, I turned then a ways back in Madrone burl. Nice warm color, not very exciting. So I carved out these little moons and filled them with opal. Even ended up with little noses! But they still didn't sparkle enough for me, so I set them on my desk, and there they sat. For a while.
I noticed them the other day and decided to bring them back out to the shop. I sanded them back and put a nice dome of resin on them. Well! They sure sparkle now! Any one want to buy them and love on them?????? 1/2" gauge of madrone burl with amazing color flash in hand carved Cresent moons on the faces. The backs are pretty too haha but just warm madrone burl goodness.

I just used some new bright green pigment in a batch of box elder burl and curly maple. These were turned from a piece of the box elder bIrl. The figure on the first side is deep and amazing. The flip side has a wonderful partial saturation pattern. Just beautiful every which side lol. These are available as of this post and are 25mm wearing with a 2mm flair on the saddle and are 13mm deep front to back. #1"gauge #1"gaugeplugs

Well these are cool! I recently had one of the guys I buy wood from give me a first pick to purchase this crazy curly maple. I couldnt say no to that! I dyed some red for a client wanting a 44mm set and thought, what the hell, let's do a few colors at the same time!! Haha. This set was turned from a block in yellow gold. Such a great effect on the quilting, gorgeous 😍
Available as of now, reach out if interested. This set comes with a bonus third to use for a backup. Losing one of these would be awful!! So getting an extra would be outstanding, don't you agree? Hahaha

Just sharing the beads I made for a regular client, a chef that looooves his knives lol. I turned these in a Makassar Ebony for him with a brass lining. They are 12 and 18mm so I am happy with the shapes I managed without tearing them up!! Haha I think they turned out real pretty 😍

Another pretty set sitting on my bench. I really need to get some listings done hahaha 😆 This is a live oak burl with lab opal inlaid into a decent void inside. Carried to both sides, so 2 faces sparkle and 2 faces are just pretty natural burlwood. This set is 16mm wearing. 2mm flair. 13mm deep. This was a great set to turn. My client wanted some of the rusty brown eyes on the faces so I set up the blank to get them in the faces. I always try to turn what the client is invisioning, it's awesome when they are excited about the process and outcome. Really love what I do!
I think for a 00g set they are gorgeous!! Buckeye burl is so pretty.

Any one else think it's pretty amazing the personalities that come out in a moonflower bush? This is a string of photos from this year's blooms vs last year's blooms. Same mother plant. When she froze last winter I broke her off a few inches from the ground. This year she grew back even bigger! The blooms also seem more ridged maybe?
