How do childbirth education classes play a role you ask?
A 2016 study presented at the Society for Maternal - Fetal Medicine’s annual meeting showed that women who took childbirth education classes or had a birth plan were 25% more likely to have vaginal birth vs. those who didn’t. One of the reasons for this is that fear has a big impact on complications during labor and delivery. Learning a little bit about the process, your body, and what you and your partner can do to enhance your experience can greatly reduce your anxiety and increase your chances of having a satisfactory delivery.
