With the high temperature at 13° today, we wanted to show our appreciation to our professional partners and vendors who manage to still visit residents, bring our packages, supplies, and mail and work out in the cold to make life better here for us. Inspired by some of our sister communities, our residents and staff helped us create "AuBRRRge Totes" filled with gloves, handwarmers, hot cocoa and marshmallows with a super cute snowman travel cup, and an ice scraper- all packed with love. We can't wait to hand these out to help everyone warm up! Shout out to caregiver Claribel and residents Mary and Esther for the time and love❤️you put into this project!

Huge shout out to Right at Home North Suburban Chicago and JourneyCare for treating our staff to chair massages and a beautiful spread of snacks and sweets. It was much appreciated during our cold winter months! Thanks, Anna and Alexa for all you do for our residents, families and staff!

As the temperatures drop here in the Midwest, it becomes even more crucial to not only look in on older adults, but also to consider; are they still safe at home alone? People with cognitive decline and dementia are particularly susceptible to catastrophic events in winter. Falls, wandering outside in inclement weather, even driving to get groceries can be extremely hazardous for people with dementia. Take a moment to review this list from WebMD.
