When I get asked if there’s a diet to fight inflammation, here’s what I say 👇

Foods are not the same as medications.

Foods will not “block” inflammation or provide immediate pain relief.

But still…

Certain foods interact with inflammatory pathways to help your body respond better.

This is especially helpful for anyone navigating conditions like joint pain, autoimmune issues, or chronic fatigue.

Here are a few supportive strategies:

🔥 Avoid known triggers (like nightshades or gluten if they affect you)
🥩 Skip charred meats, which can produce inflammatory compounds
🥑 Add healthy fats (like olive oil, nuts, and wild salmon)
🌈 Load up on colorful fruits & veggies for antioxidants
🍽 Eat in a way that balances blood sugar to reduce inflammatory spikes

There’s no one-size-fits-all approach.

What works best is a personalized plan based on your unique body.

For anyone still in pain despite normal labs, here are 3 things I consider in my practice👇

In functional medicine, we look beyond wear and tear to uncover hidden drivers of chronic pain, like:

➡️ Neuroinflammation: Emotional stress and poor sleep can amplify pain signals in the brain.

➡️ Poor gut health: A disrupted gut lining can translate to inflammation throughout the body.

➡️ Hormonal imbalance: Cortisol and progesterone help regulate pain, but stress can throw them off.

Once we understand the root cause, we can integrate nervous system support, gut-healing foods, hormone-nourishing nutrients, and other holistic strategies.

Today, we pause to honor and celebrate the life of Daniel Edward Eyles Jr., beloved father of our very own Dr. Beth.

Dan passed peacefully on July 7th, surrounded by his children and loved ones—a testament to the deep connections he nurtured throughout his life.

Born in Michigan City, Indiana, Dan was a proud Army veteran, a Harley enthusiast, and a man who never met a stranger. His joy came from connecting with others; whether through a three-hour grocery run filled with conversations or the countless times he dropped everything to lend a helping hand.

For over 40 years, Dan poured his heart into Eyles Construction, shaping the streets and foundations of Crystal Lake with care and craftsmanship. But more than his work, it was his warmth, humor, and generosity that left a lasting mark.

We invite you to join us in celebrating Dan’s legacy—a life filled with laughter, love, and service. As he wished, a gathering will be held today to share stories, memories, and the joy he brought to so many.
