The Moro reflex, also known as the startle reflex, is present at birth and typically integrates by 4–6 months of age.

If retained longer than expected, it may impact regulation, sensory processing, and a child’s ability to feel calm and secure in their environment.

Occupational therapy supports regulation, sensory processing, and nervous system development so children can better engage in daily activities 💪✨

Starting kindergarten is a big milestone 🎒✨ and many children benefit from extra support before that transition.

Our Summer Kindergarten Readiness Program is a 5-day intensive program designed to help children build the foundational skills needed for success in kindergarten.

Program includes:
• Initial skills assessment
• 60-minute individualized OT sessions
• Conducted in the child’s natural environment
• Parent coaching and support throughout the program
• A written summary provided at the end of the program

We focus on building key kindergarten readiness skills across self-care, fine motor, cognitive, social, and regulation areas to help children feel more confident and independent for the classroom.

Core strength is the foundation for so many everyday skills—sitting upright, focusing, and using hands effectively. When the core is weak, everything else has to work harder.

Building a strong base supports better movement, attention, and independence in daily activities.

If you’ve noticed challenges with posture, coordination, or fine motor skills, core strength may be a piece of the puzzle.

In honor of Artemis II’s journey around the moon, we’ve put together some fun, space-themed activities to try at home that build strength, coordination, and fine motor skills:

🚀 Scooter Board Blast Offs! – Sit on a scooter board and push off a wall with your feet. Boosts core strength, balance, and motor planning.

🌕 Puffy Paint Moons! – Mix shaving cream, glue, and black paint to make puffy paint and create your own moon — craters and all. Great for sensory exploration and fine motor skills.

⭐ Sticker Star Constellations! – Place star stickers and connect them using a white pencil, crayon, or chalk to make your own constellations. Builds fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.

Vision and visual processing are not the same 👀

A child may have 20/20 eyesight and still demonstrate difficulty with visual perceptual skills—the brain’s ability to interpret, organize, and make meaning of what is seen 🧠

These skills are essential for:
⭐ Recognizing and forming letters ✏️
⭐ Maintaining spacing and alignment in handwriting 📄
⭐ Tracking during reading 📚
⭐ Interpreting visual information in the environment 👀

When visual processing is inefficient, everyday tasks can feel significantly more effortful—even when vision itself is intact.

Understanding this distinction allows for more targeted support and more effective intervention ✨
