Dr. Elizabeth L. Dumville

Dr. Elizabeth Dumville started her work with children and families working in a community mental health setting. Her therapeutic work with foster care and adoption families sparked her passion in working with children and families. She transitioned to a private practice setting where she continued her professional work with children and families; in addition to community speaking and outreach. Her persistent motivation to better understand how attachment and trauma interfere with a child’s relationship development paved the way for her to continue her education. While in her doctorate program she enjoyed working in a school setting with high school students and young adults at a college counseling setting. She provides individual, sibling, and family therapy for toddlers, children and adolescents. She is skilled at working with individuals and families facing relationships struggles. Her areas of expertise also include her work with individuals suffering traumatic grief and loss, single incident and complex trauma, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, anxiety, depression, and children of high-conflict divorce.

Elizabeth extends a sense of hope, determination, and understanding which serves to engage a sense of courage within the child and family as they face their struggles. Her collaborative approach to therapy and psychological testing assists the child and family in building resources to build resiliency for each family to persevere through life’s storms.

She integrates various treatment modalities within a play therapy setting. Her work with adolescents also includes multiple treatment modalities which offer a variety of ways for adolescents to express and communicate their thoughts and feelings. Her primary emphasis is consistently on the therapeutic relationship. Elizabeth respects and appreciates the role of the family and enjoys working with the entire unit to assist with creating lasting change.
