Getting to the core of some of our life issues can take multiple step studies or even years of counseling. However, if we allow our pride to stay intact it will take even longer.

Pride keeps us from being able to see ourselves truthfully. But if we see ourselves through the eyes of the Father we can get a truthful take on how we’re doing.

“Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world.” ‭‭1 John‬ ‭2:15-16‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Join us Monday nights at 6pm. We’ll get messy and better together!

If you’ve ever sat in a Celebrate Recovery open share group you know that everyone handles their sharing differently. Some people share eloquently, others are incredibly raw. It is highly likely that someone in your group is going to share differently than you will.

While this might be a new experience, it doesn’t take long to become close like family with those in your group. Any time you do hard work with others you realize we are truly better together!

If you’ve never tried a CR open share group, try one out this week. You might just score a forever family if you do!

Your recovery is your recovery.

If you compare yourself or seek revenge on others, it can stall out your growth. All we need to do is focus on our Savior and ask for his help to keep growing. We can leave the revenge up to God.

“Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord. On the contrary: “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭12:19-21‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Did you know that CR’s first acrostic was:

Everyone
Everywhere

Who else enjoys way too much coffee in sobriety?

Note: We recognize coffee may not be good for everyone and that nothing takes the place of Jesus… not even a warm cup of coffee! Just trying to have some CR family fun around something a lot of people have in common. :)

If you’re new to Celebrate Recovery, we can sum up the first three steps with this:
1. I can’t
2. GOD can
3. I’ll let Him

If we can sincerely “do” these first three steps, we will be on a solid path to achieve a life of active recovery, restoration, and sanity.

The enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy. But God can turn any of those tactics around for our good.

Joseph had a moment just like this. He realized that being sold by his brothers actually set Joseph up to save his family and millions of others.

“You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭50:20‬ ‭NIV‬‬

What you’re walking in today can be turned around by God for your good.

There’s always a purpose in the pain.

“Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.” 2 Corinthians‬ ‭7:10‬ ‭NIV‬‬

When we turn toward Jesus, rock bottom becomes an incredibly stable place to start our journey.

Ever wonder if you really matter?

Here’s what Jesus said about you:
“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.”
Matthew 5:14 ESV

God loves you so much and is so proud to call you His own.

“See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”

Happy 246th birthday to the United States of America!

Though not perfect, America is founded on the gospel. So much so, references to God are throughout our founding documents and on our currency.

“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people he chose for his inheritance.” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭33:12‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Denial can be difficult to overcome. In order to heal we must come face to face with our ourselves. We have to remove our masks to see ourselves as He made us.

Accept the first principle of recovery. Step out of your denial and step into your Higher Power — Jesus Christ’s — unconditional love and grace!

Principle 1: Realize I’m not God. I admit that I am powerless to control my tendency to do the wrong thing and that my life is unmanageable.
“Happy are those who know they are spiritually poor.” (Matthew 5:3)

Step 1: We admitted we were powerless over our addictions and compulsive behaviors, that our lives had become unmanageable.
“I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out.” (Romans 7:18)

🕯 Seek God.

🗓 Join us for learning and fellowship on Monday nights at 6pm.

We’ve all experienced the darkness of sin.

On the 1st day, God created light.
God’s word shines light in all the dark areas… especially in our lives when we accept him as our Savior.

When we are confused, we go to His word for wisdom.
Feeling low, we go to His word for encouragement.
Feeling sad, we go to His word for joy.
Feeling unloved, we go to Him for love.

Consider turning toward your Father’s Word today if life is feeling dark.

Step 3. We made a decision to turn our lives and our wills over to the care of God.

Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God - this is your spiritual act of worship. Romans 12:1 NIV

Trying to be what someone thinks you should be could lead to you not moving toward what God is asking you to be. If we turn our lives over to Him, we don’t have to worry about disappointing others by not fitting in their box.
