Happy Juneteenth! On June 19, 1865, enslaved African Americans in the last corner of the confederacy were informed that they were finally free! For this reason, Juneteenth is also celebrated as Freedom Day, because although the emancipation proclamation was made two years prior, none were truly free until all were free.
Black Swan Counseling Services proudly celebrates Juneteenth this and every year. The resilience, triumph, spirit, and radiance of the African American community, in spite of everything that has been created and done to tear them down, is worth celebrating always. Black Swan Counseling Services was co-created and is co-owned by a descendant of Africans enslaved under chattel slavery in the United States. 1865 allowed for 2023.
Come by and say hi to us at our booth at the Juneteenth Freedom Festival on June 28, 2025 in Lakeland!
