Katherine “Kat” Losso, a freshman volleyball player at Chelmsford High School, has been experiencing ankle pain while running and jumping. Our team has been working on improving her ankle mobility and calf strength while incorporating dynamic balance training and some fun competition.

In this exercise, Kat uses a Bosu ball to create an unstable surface that challenges her ankle stabilizers. Performing the activity without shoes further engages her muscles, while Blaze Pods add a reaction-time component for athletic performance.

Ankle pain is common in athletes, especially growing adolescents. Stretching, strengthening and stability exercises can help decrease pain and reduce the risk of injury.

If you or your child are experiencing pain during sports, call Select Physical Therapy to schedule an appointment today.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. More than half of the people diagnosed with breast cancer will experience side effects following treatment.

Our ReVital Cancer Rehabilitation program can help patients prepare for treatment and manage side effects afterward so they can live well beyond cancer.

Early detection is critical, but so is support throughout the journey. You don't have to face recovery alone.

10/01/2025

It’s National Physical Therapy Month. Our theme throughout October is, “Your future is better with PT!” We will highlight how physical therapy can lead to a better, stronger tomorrow.

Our physical therapists are here to guide patients through every step of recovery, from hospital to home. For our patients, that means helping them return to the moments that matter. For our physical therapists and physical therapist assistants, it means making a difference and helping people move forward.

Join us throughout the month as we highlight the power of physical therapy.

At Select Physical Therapy, recovery is more than just rebuilding strength. It’s retraining the brain and body to work together.

Physical Therapists Kayden Lewis and Jeff Haffemann recently worked with Vinny Cregg to incorporate into his ACL reconstruction rehabilitation program.

Cleared for early plyometrics, Vinny used the pods to train his reaction time and coordination: tap left when the light turns blue, tap right when it’s red and clap when it’s green.

This type of neurological training challenges the brain to adapt to external stimuli, improving its ability to process information quickly and efficiently. By targeting the nervous system, not just the muscles, we help athletes restore natural joint stability and reduce the risk of re-injury.

Happy Friday from Select Physical Therapy. This week, Madelyn (Maddie) McKnelly and her Physical Therapist, Jeff Haffemann worked on glute strength with a fun game in our Chelmsford center.

Maddie, who is preparing for her high school soccer career, has been managing anterior knee pain, commonly known as patellofemoral pain syndrome. This condition often affects athletes, especially adolescent girls.

Strengthening the hip muscles can help the knees stay in better alignment and reduce pain. Side steps and single-leg dynamic balance exercises are just a few of the ways therapy keeps athletes healthy on the field.

At Select Physical Therapy, we believe making rehabilitation fun keeps young athletes motivated and moving toward their goals.
