The election results weren’t what we’d hoped for. However, we are very proud of how hard we fought. We organized fundraisers, collaborated with reporters, distributed merchandise, educated and spoke at public events, and tirelessly countered misleading information from the opposition - doing everything we could.
Thank you to everyone who voted Yes On 3 and helped educate friends and family about adult use legalization. With 56% of Floridians voting in favor of 3, it’s clear that the majority of the state supports adult use.
The 60% threshold needed to pass a constitutional amendment in Florida, along with strong opposition spreading misinformation, created a challenging path forward. The good news is, now the opposition has to back up their claims, since a lot of their concerns centered around the amendment’s wording, not adult use itself. The majority of voters voted in favor of Amendment 3 and that cannot be ignored.
Adult use legalization happening in Florida isn’t a question of “if” it’s a question of “when”. With 56% already in favor, we have a strong foundation to continue pushing.
There are some positives in the outcome: Our hope is that the governor’s office will now embrace and support the medical program more actively. Also, for licensed operators, this means less competition flooding the market, allowing current operators more room to expand. Another positive outcome is that this election highlighted the importance of regulated, clean, and lab-tested cannabis and cannabis-derivative products.
Unfortunately, the real loss here is for the people - the majority of Florida voters who voted for this change.
Again, a big thank you to everyone who supported Amendment 3. We didn’t achieve the outcome we wanted this time, but we will be back 💪
