Dr. Friedman has a soft spot for animals. There are several feral cats outside our Lakeland office. Dr. Friedman paid for them to be humanely trapped and taken to a local vet. There they were given a checkup, any necessary shots, and spayed or neutered. They were then brought back to the office and set free. Thanks to Dr. Friedman, and Chewy, they are given food and water daily. Lucky cats!

Dr. Friedman has a passion for learning and enhancing the treatment options for his patients. That passion drives the study program at the Lakeland facility. This program runs clinical trials on new treatment options. They are currently running studies on possible treatments for conditions such as Wet and Dry Age-Related Macular Degeneration, Diabetic Macular Edema, Diabetic Retinopathy, and Geographic Atrophy.
The studies are working toward getting approval for new treatments. These treatments are meant to sustain sight, not cure disease. They may include pill studies, eye injections, subcutaneous injections, and even surgeries for some. They use testing such as scanning with optical coherence tomography, visual field testing, and color fondus photos to test the efficacy of each treatment.
Dr. Friedman and his team of six are continually working toward improving the treatment options for all his patients. If you would like to refer any potential participants or would like to be considered for one of the studies, please contact us at 863-337-6094.

He presented a talk entitled: "Network Meta-Analyses of Number of Injections with Aflibercept Versus Faricimab in nAMD and DME. Always learning, always sharing the knowledge.
