💙 Adult Grief Support Group — Interest Check 💙
Psychological Associates of Central Florida

Grief can feel incredibly isolating, even when you’re surrounded by people. Many adults share that they feel pressure to “be okay” long before they truly are.

Psychological Associates of Central Florida is exploring the possibility of starting an Adult Grief Support Group this February for individuals who have experienced the loss of a loved one and are seeking connection, understanding, and support.

🕊️ Proposed Group Details:
📍 In-person at our Lake Wales office
🗓️ Every other Sunday
🕐 1:00–2:30 PM (90 minutes)
⏳ 8-week group
💲 $40 per session
👥 Small group size for comfort and safety

This will be a support group (not group therapy) facilitated by a licensed clinician and focused on:

A safe space to share or simply listen

Gentle guidance through the grief process

Connection with others who understand loss

Coping tools for navigating life after loss

There is no “right way” to grieve. Participation is always at your comfort level — speaking is optional, and all emotions are welcome.

👉 If you or someone you know may be interested, please comment below or send us a private message.
This post is intended to gauge interest only — no commitment required.

You don’t have to carry grief alone. 💙

🧠 There’s No “One-Size-Fits-All” in Therapy 🧩

At our practice, we use different types of therapy because every person, family, and situation is unique. Here’s a look at some common approaches and why they’re used:

✨ Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Helps clients understand how thoughts, feelings, and behaviors connect. Great for anxiety, depression, and negative thinking patterns.

✨ Play Therapy
Designed for children who express themselves better through play than words. Helps kids process emotions, trauma, and big feelings safely.

✨ Trauma-Informed Therapy
Focuses on safety, trust, and healing for individuals impacted by trauma. We move at the client’s pace and avoid re-traumatization.

✨ Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Skills
Teaches emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and communication skills—especially helpful for intense emotions and impulsive behaviors.

✨ Family Therapy
Improves communication, reduces conflict, and strengthens relationships by working with the family as a whole.

✨ Attachment-Based Therapy
Supports healthy relationships and emotional connection, especially when there has been loss, inconsistency, or early trauma.

💛 Our goal is always the same:
To meet clients where they are, use evidence-based tools, and help them build skills for long-term emotional health.

Toxicity in a marriage isn’t always loud or obvious.
Sometimes it looks like walking on eggshells.
Silencing yourself to keep the peace.
Feeling lonely even though you’re not alone.

Healthy relationships don’t require you to shrink, self-abandon, or constantly explain your worth.
Love should feel safe — not confusing, controlling, or emotionally exhausting.

Awareness is the first step toward change. 💛

Healing happens in many ways.
Connection, laughter, and feeling emotionally safe are just as important as insight and coping skills.

✨ Why Gratitude Helps Calm Anxiety ✨

Anxiety activates the brain’s alarm system, triggering fight-or-flight and stress hormones. Gratitude does the opposite.

When you focus on what you’re grateful for, the brain releases calming chemicals that help quiet fear signals and support emotional regulation. Over time, this practice can even reduce how reactive the brain is to stress.

🌱 Try this:
When anxiety shows up, pause and name 3 things you’re grateful for—even small ones. This simple shift can help calm your nervous system and interrupt the anxiety spiral.

Gratitude isn’t about ignoring hard things—it’s about helping your brain feel safe. 💛
