For Immediate Release Light Up the Lake Spectacular
Information Regarding Traffic Control on July 5, 2025
Indian Lake, Ohio

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Ohio State Highway Patrol, Logan County Sheriff’s Office, Washington Township Police Department, and the Russells Point Police Department will be combining efforts throughout the Indian Lake Region for traffic control following the 2025 Indian Lake Fireworks.
The launch site will remain at the South Bank of Indian Lake between Township Road 239 and the west corporation limit of the Village of Russells Point. The launch site will include the midway parking lot on SR 366, including ODNR Property and the Bike path East to Paradise Point. Accordingly, specific changes had to be made to allow for safety and security of the launch site. The following changes have been made:
• A portion of the bike path and adjacent grass areas will be fenced off to provide the required safety zone.
• A larger Safety Zone area marked with buoys will extend out from the south shore into the open water to provide for the required safety zone.
• No parking will be allowed between the midway parking lot and east of Township Road 239 and just west of the Russells Point Corporation Limit.
• Paradise Island (A cross from Indian Head) will be closed to new traffic at 9:00pm.
o Cars will be permitted to leave the area.
• Long Term Road Closure on State Route 366 between Township Road 239 and Indian Head Road House.
• Restricted Travel
Immediately following the fireworks motorists should prepare as follows:

• State Route 366 at State Route 235 will be shut down at 2200 hours to all vehicle traffic.
• All State Route 366 traffic between State Route 235 and Township Road 239 will exit the area eastbound on State Route 366 to Township Road 239. From Township Road 239, traffic will be diverted east or west bound on US Route 33.
• The following access points from US 33 to Main Street will be closed only as long as necessary to quickly move both incoming and outgoing traffic at the conclusion of the Fireworks:
o Sunnyside Avenue (Donut Shop)
o Clermont Street- (Golf Cart World)
o Lincoln Boulevard (The Wedge)
o State Route 708-(Huntington Bank)

• The Traffic Lights along US 33 at the State Route 708 and Township Road 239 intersections will be set to flash yellow or otherwise controlled to move traffic as efficiently as possible.
• Drivers can gain access to US 33 from roadways east of Russells Point from County Roads 94 on toward Huntsville. ***Intersections through Russells Point are closed due to the fact they can only handle 1-2 vehicles before obstructing traffic flow.***
• Oldfield beach traffic will be a right turn only following the fireworks.
• Motorists traveling south (westward) near Van Horn’s Curve on SR 235 will be required to continue straight onto SR 366 to US 33
• Motorist traveling north on SR 235 will be required to continue north on SR 235.
▪ There will be no left turns allowed off of SR 235
• Motorists traveling south on SR 235 will have to turn east or west on to US 33. Motorists will not have access to Lakeview from SR 235 south or from US 33. Motorists coming out of Lakeview will not be able to access US 33 at this intersection. Please help the law enforcement officers at the intersections by using your turn signals to let them know what direction you would like to go.

Severe Weather Response Plan

1. When a report of severe weather approaching Indian Lake is forecasted, Incident Command will begin monitoring and observing local weather patterns.

2. If the storm indicates a track with Indian Lake in the path all incident command staff and team leaders will be notified.

3. The Incident Commander will work in conjunction with all partners to make a final safety decision one hour before the fireworks are launched. The one-hour response time will be required to allow enough time for traffic to move to a safe location.

4. If a delay or evacuation of the area is warranted, the Incident Commander will immediately notify all team members, then notify all media outlets. Announcements (i.e., “SEEK SHELTER IMMEDIATELY”) will be made.

With summer time rolling in fast, Indian Lake EMS crews have been busy taking runs and trying to stay cool so we haven’t had the chance to give two major shout outs to some help and support we received recently with various projects around the station.

came to our station and cleaned EVERY. SINGLE. WINDOW! This was a huge facelift that complimented the recent power washing our crews did to the entire exterior of the building while on shift. The bugs around the lake can be quite the nuisance and collect in every corner but our crews worked tirelessly to makeover the outside to keep our beautiful station looking stunning!

As if that wasn’t enough… came with one of their rotator trucks and squared up our flag pole which had remained leaning pretty heavily towards the building since the tornado last March! This was a huge favor to ask, and did not disappoint!

The best part? Both of these companies did these favors for the department, absolutely free! This was no cost to the department, or the taxpayers. We could not be more grateful for the support we receive from local businesses and residents when were in need as we always try to be the best we can be and be there for our community when they’re in need! We HIGHLY recommend reaching out to these two businesses if you’re in need of the services they offer!

Thank you again to and , from everyone at Station 18!

We would like to welcome two new part time employees to our agency. (Pictured left Brody Joseph and pictured right Brandon Jackson) We feel these two will be an asset to our agency and community.

Brody spent 5 years in the U.S. Navy as a machinist mate. After his time in the military, he obtained his EMT certification as well as 36 hour firefighter certification. Brody is currently in school for his paramedic certification. In his free time away from work and school he enjoys snowboarding and hiking.

Brandon is married to Brooke (Thompson) Jackson and has 3 girls- Bexley, Kierstyn & Adalynn. Brandon graduated from the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science with a Bachelors Degree in Mortuary Science and is currently pursuing his MBA. Brandon is a certified EMT and has his 36 hour firefighter certification. Brandon works full time at Honda R&D as a Procurement Analyst and part time at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home as a licensed funeral director & embalmer. Brandons future plans at Indian Lake EMS would be to become an Advanced EMT or Paramedic to better serve the Indian Lake and surrounding communities.
