What keeps you from getting a good night’s rest?

Two common sleep disruptors are racing thoughts and late-night screen time. In today’s post, we share simple ways to manage nighttime worries and limit electronics before bed to help your mind wind down.

If you can’t fall asleep, try not to force it. Lying in bed frustrated can build more tension. Instead, get up for a few minutes, do something relaxing, and return when you feel tired.

During the day, movement can also make a difference. Even light activity, such as walking, stretching, or strength work, may make it easier to settle in at night.

Set yourself up for better sleep and, in turn, support your mental health.

Follow along as we share practical sleep tips this week.

Your bedroom environment matters more than you think.

A dark room, cooler temperatures, comfortable bedding, and steady background noise can aid deeper, more restful sleep. Small adjustments to your space can make it easier to relax and stay asleep through the night.

Quality sleep helps you feel restored and enhances overall wellbeing.

Tomorrow, we’ll share simple strategies for when you’re having trouble falling asleep.

Feeling drained? A short nap can help you recharge.

Naps can boost energy and ease afternoon fatigue. Keep it under 30 minutes and earlier in the day so it doesn’t interfere with nighttime sleep and your ability to wind down.

Next up: how your bedroom environment shapes your sleep.

Natural light does more than brighten your day. It helps regulate your circadian rhythm, your body’s internal sleep-wake cycle, making it easier to fall asleep at night and feel more rested.

Meet Erica Mulcahey, Licensed Mental Health Counselor

“You are allowed to be both a masterpiece and a work in progress, simultaneously.” – Sophia Bush

Erica often returns to this quote because it reflects how she views therapy. Healing is not about perfection. It is about honoring strengths while allowing space for change.

Erica’s down-to-earth style shows up in the way she collaborates with each client. She works with people of all ages and focuses on creating a space where clients feel seen and comfortable discussing what has been difficult, as well as what they hope to work on in therapy. She brings warmth and humor into the room, offering support and lightness when the work feels especially heavy.

Movement has been an important part of Erica’s own healing, and when appropriate, she incorporates mind-body approaches and creative expression into her work. She aims for clients to leave sessions with practical tools they can use outside of therapy to manage challenges as they arise.

After noticing a lack of support around perinatal and postpartum mental health, Erica pursued specialized training in this area. She has a strong interest in supporting individuals during pregnancy and after childbirth, recognizing this period as one that can hold both joy and challenges. Erica enjoys helping clients move through the emotional changes that can come with pregnancy and early parenthood.

Above all, Erica wants new clients to know that therapy is a space where you can show up just as you are. She offers supportive, collaborative care throughout therapy.
